SC GOP Committed To A Policy of No Impact on Statewide Elections

Filed in National by on May 18, 2011

I’m not sure what it means to Sussex County’s Republicans that Urquhart is running unopposed to be the SC GOP’s Head Nutbag.

Does this take him out of play vs. Carper? Who knows? Does it continue to signal that the SC GOP really isn’t that into winning statewide? Of course.

You people keep making hit that site:
“It was the people’s displeasure with the GOP party that has brought us to this point. If Mr. Urquhart fails to represent the will of the rank and file, he would need only look back, to see how that will be received. We are seeking change within the GOP.”

Legendary! No other contincuency has ever had such a grasp of democracy. Its going to be another banner election cycle with these brilliant political minds. One would wonder, Is the Lantern Jaw held to that standard? Just kidding, I know about geese and gander and demented sheep.

Hello Amy Lewis Content Writer!! We only buy content that cost one penny or more. If we took your content for free we might feel beholden to you. You’d be all, “Wanna hang out this weekend and maybe see Thor?” and we’d be all, “Uh…we’re getting our dog washed. or something.” And you’d be all “Right. You’re always getting your dog washed.”

And then when you left, I’d be all, “Is it me or is Amy Lewis Content Writer kind of a drag?” And everyone would be like, “It isn’t you.”

This is very likely shades of Nixon 62′: running for an office to avoid losing a bigger race. The Republicans have a dearth of candidates next year with the governorship, LG, Carper’s senate seat, a House seat, and insurance commissioner all on the ballot. Urqhuart would likely face pressure to run for one of this offices. This is actually a good move by Urqhuart. The Republicans will be clobbered in Delaware next year. He can hide out as SC chair and wait for the tide to shift to the Republicans or simply consign himself to Sussex County and run for a seat in the legislature in the future, a more realistic scenario for him than statewide office. If he still harbors statewide ambitions, though, 2016 would be the year to make a move with the governorship and lieutenant governorship being open seats.

I suspect, and hope, that Urqhuart will increase the influence of the Sussex GOP in the state GOP and pull it even further to the right.
