Couldn’t Make This Up – Tea Party Summer Camp

OMG!

Via Gawker:

— Is your child’s summer camp a bit too… Kenyan, let’s say? Don’t worry! There’s still space at the weeklong “Tampa Liberty School,” a camp designed to help children aged 8-12 learn about important concepts like Freedom and The Gold Standard.

As the St. Petersburg Times reports, Tampa Liberty School, the brainchild of conservative writer Jeff Lukens and the Glenn Beck-inspired Tampa 912 Project, is unlike your standard public school. (Lukens admits he is “not familiar with public school curriculum” but knows “they have a lot of political correctness.”) Instead, Tampa Liberty School will use “fun, hands-on activities” to promote “principles” like “America is good,” “I believe in God,” and “I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.”

Get a load of some of the fun, fun, fun activities!

Children will win hard, wrapped candies to use as currency for a store, symbolizing the gold standard. On the second day, the “banker” will issue paper money instead. Over time, students will realize their paper money buys less and less, while the candies retain their value.

And then there’s this:

Starting in an austere room where they are made to sit quietly, symbolizing Europe, the children will pass through an obstacle course to arrive at a brightly decorated party room (the New World).

Red-white-and-blue confetti will be thrown. But afterward the kids will have to clean up the confetti, learning that with freedom comes responsibility.

These people are crazy.

The hard, wrapped candy sounds like these wingnuts made a run on all of the leftover chocolate Chanukah gelt from last December. For those not in the know, one of the big sellers during Chanukah is gold wrapped chocolate gelt (money).

  2. heragain says:

Gelt, however, actually HAS value, as being pretty fair chocolate.

The enduring value of werthers original has yet to be demonstrated. “Hard, Wrapped candy” gets tossed right after raisins, in the Halloween bags around here.

Juat make sure you get the kosher stuff and not the goyish knockoffs made of some kind of brown wax.

Indoctrination: increase the level of social pariah in your children.

  5. mediawatch says:

When it’s time to clean up the confetti, seems more likely that they’ll send the kids out in minivans to look for smaller, dark-skinned youth whom they’d pay with their paper play money.

In the United States of America, one has the freedom to offer any sort of camp or educational opportunity one wishes.

You have too much time on your hands. Let’s see something substanative like the double-dip recession that Obama has managed to lead us into.

Remember his assinine ‘car-in-the-ditch’ analogy? Obama shouldn’t even have a license to drive. He’s always been in over his head. and has always lacked real leadership ability. My one-word description of him would be either: incompetent or naive.

Does he really think it’s humorous to joke about how awful the Stimulus plan was? Wow!

Laughing at ABSCAM Revisited’s lack of math skills as he/she pontificates about the stimulus.

  8. Von Cracker says:

Another revisionist teatard taking the effect and making it the cause.

Who led the charge to water down and neuter the stimulus again?

To the post, silly, just like jeebus camp. And just like jeebus camp, the only sure result is that most will grow up to be unabashed liberals, because you know the kids are gonna fuckin hate it!

  9. Joe Cass says:

n the United States of America, one has the freedom try to twist the truth to fit the conservative agenda. The best thing about America: we’re predominately liberal. @election 2008

The recession is substantiative enough, what do you want to see? A third Bush term? I would have liked to have seen a Dem controlled congress set right the failings of Boehner and McConnel but tea cozies are just too cute.

Debatable. What is your plan for job growth? If you say tax cuts, I’m gonna put your fucking head on a pike. Figuratively, of course. Imagine your head being hacked off and *sploit* stuck on a sharp stick. Figuratively.

Rand Paul Youth Camp? just saying, not to worry, 12 years of catholic school was completely ineffective on the left side of my brain. Wasn,t the pope a member of the……never mind, cheap shot.
