  1. Rupert’s using the Sgt. Shultz “I know nothing” defense.

So far he’s been aware of nothing and no one in his organization told him anything.

  2. I’m listening to this on the BBC and there’s definitely a whiff of schadenfreude in the air….

Hopefully they’ll squeeze one of the lower level criminals hard enough to produce a tape recording of Murdoch giving specific instructions. I’m sure that recording is out there somewhere.

  4. Adrian Sanders seemed to ask a series of questions the definitely seemed to unnerve Young Murdoch abit.

I just watched a clip and it was pretty awkward old man moment when Murdoch Sr. interjected that this was the “humblest(?) day of his life.”

  6. These questioners are amazing.

    Question: “Why did Hinton resign?”
Murdoch basically says: he fell on his sword of honor.

  7. That’s because Rupert and James “supposedly” don’t know a damn thing. Their “We’re just little, dumb businessmen struggling to get by” is amazing. Everything else aside, both should be removed from positions of responsibility immediately since they don’t know a damn thing.

James Murdoch is asked if he knows the definition of “willfull ignorance” then proceeds to play ignorant in not knowing the definition.

  9. What just happened. There was some sort of disturbance and they cut away.

  10. Ugh, a man hit Rupert with a plate of shaving cream. God save us from idiots.

The pie in the face thing is so played out.

  12. I heard NPR’s David Folkenfleck discussing the testimony. His major point was that James Murdoch said he first learned of the phone hacking in 2010 when it was revealed by Sienna Miller. However, a year before he authorized settlement payments of 700,000£ to the soccer association. Oops!
