Never Forget the Stupidity

Filed in National by on September 11, 2011

Never forget that we turned a terrorist attack into a huge win for jihadists.

Never forget that on 9/11, rather than being called to be our highest and best selves, we were asked to go shopping,
Rather than being told the truth, we were told that the air is fine and everyone should hurry back to southern Manhattan.
Never forget that 9/11 allowed us to invented evidence to facilitate an attack a country unrelated to the 9/11.
Never forget that we responded out of fear and invaded a country with no plan for the occupation.

Never forget the lie that oil revenue will pay for the war. Never forget that we ruined the economy by cutting taxes during wartime. And never forget that we turned our backs on our history and traditions by decided that abusing human rights was justified by our fear.

Never forget that we adopted police state policies in order to feel “safe.” Never forget that we allowed the terrorist who attacked us to evade justice for ten years out of laziness. And never forget that we pretended that waving the flag and being more outwardly patriotic fulfilled our civic duties.

That’s a short list of the bungling and stupidity.

We should not forget. This should be a day of national resolve that this country must never forget the stupidity. That we must never again elect a mentally retarded psychopath to the office of the President of the United States.

UPDATE: I wrote a draft of this at about 10:00 this morning. I had already heard Andrea Mitchell say, “Republican and Democratic administrations were caught flat footed by terrorists. I heard that lie once and knew that we would forget the stupidity. How can we remember when we have a news media that is no better than PRAVDA?

  1. I totally agree and of course it goes without saying that caring about all those things you mentioned doesn’t take away AT ALL the destruction and loss on that ONE day. But it was ONE day where a handful of people woke us all up and for a short time brought us all together. Unfortunately our response was that of war instead of missions like the one that got bin Laden. A country didn’t attack us on 9/11. The police state mentality which still exists is part of the tragedy that extends from that ONE day. I personally don’t believe that the security risk now is substantially greater than it was before 9/11. It’s simply we are much more aware of the risk that had already existed pre-9/11 and a lot of people have been willing to give up liberties for a FEELING of security. I stress “feeling” in that sentence again.

Samba’s so smart. No wonder he’s christian.

  4. puck says:

“Never forget that your Messiah has continued nearly all of the policies you hated under Bush.”

And getting pretty much the same results, unfortunately. But at least we confirmed for the 100th time that the Bush policies fuck up the economy and our society.

  5. puck says:

Well this is a stupidity thread so I guess this is on topic: Over on DP, Mike Protack is admonishing commenters to use their real names.

  6. dv says:

never forget that when you type “allah akbar” you know right fucking well that our Government just went apeshit and searched on me to see who wrote this.

It’s ok though b/c I’m safer and freer

  7. Aoine says:

@puck – as does their resident looney tunes Don Ayotte, altho’ he posted under a fake name for many months……..

and Protack has more sock-puppets from his ISP than you can shake a stick at

Pot – meet kettle,,,LOL I love the hypocracy

dont do as I do, do as I say…. yup – that works

Mitch Crane’s been hacked, so if you’re on his email list, take steps.
The bastard uses his name but no subject line and it came from 98.136.167.73.

  9. MJ says:

It was Mitch’s AOL account and the IP address is out of Chicago (at least it appears to be). He has already taken steps to correct this.

This might be a good time for everyone to change your email passwords and include alphanumeric combinations and special characters (!, @, #, etc.) in them.

  10. anon says:

Chicago is where Elliott Jacobson is from – Karen Weldin Stewart’s Senior Advisor and Campaign Manager – just sayin’

  11. puck says:

Don’t jump to conclusions about hacking and IP addresses unless you are an expert. I’m knowledgable but not expert and I know how easy it is to get fooled. There are lots of unexpected opportunities for misdirection in the technology. Remember Lieberman claiming he got hacked the night he got beat in the CT primary? It turned out he used a cheap-ass hosting service that went down under pressure.

  12. Mitch Crane says:

My e-mail was hacked Sunday. I believe it was just a worm. These things happen. I do not believe Elliot Jacobsen engineered it. I am sorry so many people received e-mails purportedly from me-advertising sexual enhancement. But, as a certain statewide elected official is quoted as saying in today’s NJ: “Sometimes it’s better to take baby steps than it is to swallow whole.”
    Sorry if anyone was convenience.

  13. anon says:

These quotes in the News Journal article today, “Financial relief for insurers from health care law denied” are priceless on many levels.

Insurance Commissioner Karen Weldin Stewart clearly does not have a clue as to what her job is.

In the article Insurance Commissioner Stewart is advocating for the Insurance brokers, actively working against the consumer and apparently proud of it.

“Sometimes it’s better to take baby steps than it is to swallow whole.” – Insurance Commissioner Stewart

“They could still afford to stay in the market with that few policyholders,” – Insurance Commissioner Stewart

  14. Jason330 says:

I’ve found swallowing whole babies to be nearly impossible.

  15. D. Kennedy says:

Jason, do you still feel that 9/11 was an inside job as you have implied in the past?

And, what about the fact that the Chosen One has continued almost all of Bush’s policies? Or are you just going to ignore that?

  16. Aoine says:

    re: Hacking

received an email today from WHYY’s newsWorks that account holders there had been hacked. If you subscribel to WHYY’s newsworks, you may have received this – if not be aware!

    Dear NewsWorks User,

Yesterday our tech team discovered and closed a security vulnerability in our system. A hacker had gained access to our system and may have had access to our user registration data.

It is possible, though not likely, that your email address and other personal information were obtained from your NewsWorks account. This would only include information on the registration screen. This would include email address, encrypted version of your password, first name, last name and your zip code. No other WHYY systems were affected. Your password is encrypted, but if you use the same username/password combinations on other sites, it would be advisable that you change them just as a precaution.

    We sincerely apologize.

Wow, D. Kennedy, you are dumb. I normally don’t walk mentally retarded wingnuts like yourself through their stupidity, but this comment is so colossally inane that a little hand holding might be instructive for some other tea-bag.

Regarding your second point. See the third and fourth comment on this thread. Don’t worry. I’m not expecting an apology.

To your first point. I never implied that 9/11 was an inside job. I have, however stated that prior to 9/11, George Bush ignored security briefings which urged him to take the threat from AQ seriously. History has spoken. He didn’t.

The difference between stating simple historical facts, and implying something is probably lost on you, because as a wingnut you think that facts are liberal hocus-pocus. I consider that your problem not mine.

    Class dismissed.

    @anon 9:46–

KWS is a dimwit Democrat hack. This is not news. Our state is infested w/ dimwit political hacks from both sides of the aisle. Again, this is NOT news!

@D. Kennedy–I don’t know Jason330 IRL & I sure as hell don’t speak for him, but he’s been a huge critic of Obama on this very blog. I guess you don’t come here very often & you can’t be bothered to read the archives.
