Occupy Delaware Starts Saturday, November 5
As noted yesterday in a couple of comments in the Open Thread, Occupy Delaware begins its occupation at H. Fletcher Brown park in Wilmington, DE at 10AM. You can check for details at OccupydDE.org (where there is also notice of the next planning meeting on Wednesday 2 November). Occupy Delaware also has a Facebook page that all of you should subscribe to and a Twitter presence if you monitor that.
They are also looking for help in supplying the occupation, and Auntie Dem copied an email she received listing the needs:
The occupation in Delaware is coming! And we need your help! Please, consider making in-kind donations (stuff, not cash) to the movement to support the occupiers.

I encourage people occupying (I thank God that i have a job… a job that prevents me from being able to participate on the front line) to practice radical self reliance. Of course, we should support them, but if you are a “them” (and i really doubt anyone needs to hear this, but it should be said) and you have the ability to do so, make sure you bring everything you need… and extra… make arrangements to restock…. assume that you have to provide for yourself and one other (good camping rule in general)
The weasels are going to call this a group of voluntary homeless pan handlers who just wanna mooch off of other people until the government feeds them. The media will back them up whenever they can. OWS has done such a good job in the face of a very vast ad very calculated smear campaign…. it’s a sign that the pigs are afraid

‘back in teh day’ I attended a few Rainbow Gatherings with fellow Delawareans. The encampments were for a few weeks in a national park around the fourth of July. We hauled in on foot some kind of contribution along with our sleeping bags and mess kits. The events were impressively organized with teams well ahead digging latrines, lashing kitchens and stacking rock ovens for the thousands who came.
They also had a “policing” unit identified by their head and arm bands. I remember being surprised to find that I was camping with so many veterans among the old school hippies. One of the best campsites to visit were the hare krishna with their lavish entertainment and feasts. The massive communications board was the centerpiece. You could go up and decide which activity was scheduled that suited your fancy at any given hour. And if you had some kind of program to offer, you just scheduled it and waited for an audience. I got my first ever professional chiropractic adjustment in the medical camp village and at night there were fire circles and drum circles and lots of hallucinogenics. No booze allowed.

The Legal & Security Team is having a little trouble getting cooperation from the State for the occupation. We have submitted the application to use H. Fletcher Brown Park (a State park), but the outlook is not so good that they will work with us or approve our request. It’s all still up in the air, though, so we don’t know which way it will go.
If anyone has political contacts, please direct them to contact Chazz Salkin, who is the State Park & Rec Director, to encourage him to approve the request and support the movement.

Bank of America and Chase have no problem getting cooperation from the state. The state has chosen a side. proceed without them…… elected officials can be replaced…. CEOs can only be removed. (peacefully)
Hmmm… maybe on Nov. 5 everyone can meet in Rodney Square to discuss the issue.
Hello there, we are asking for these things in hope that we can use them for people who cannot afford them and for the homeless who aren’t lucky enough to find a place at the shelter. We also are requesting that the people who are coming bring everything they need to care for themselves. We want to care for out homeless comunity. We talked and the consences is that it would be wrong to take donations and not give back.
