Did KWS Go Over to the Dark Side? – UPDATED
It seems as though KWS, the incumbent “Democratic” Insurance Commissioner has hired herself a republican to run her re-election campaign. Well, he was a registered republican up until December 12, 2011.
ItalioItalo Russo has been hired to steer the rudderless ship that is KWS and her campaign. Seven days after he changed his registration (apparently to offset any negative publicity), he attended 2 state Democratic party meetings as her representative, with Elliott Jacobson in tow. Now some of you might not see a problem with this. But I see a huge problem.
The first meeting was that of the Democratic Party’s Coordinated Campaign committee. It was attended by the 4 sub-division chairs, senior staff, the state chair, and reps of all of the Democratic statewide officeholders. Sensitive financial information was handed out at this meeting, so sensitive that no one was allowed to walk out of the room with the handouts. And KWS made it possible for a republican to view this information.
The second meeting was the State Executive Committee. Russo actually introduced himself at this meeting to all who weren’t at the earlier meeting.
Now ask yourself why this is wrong. Let’s say KWS loses her primary (we know she will). Russo can take whatever information he has learned over the next 10 months and give it to the rethuglicans. My guess is that he could take pictures of any sensitive documents with a smart phone. Hell, we really don’t know if he hasn’t done so already.
Party leadership now knows about Russo’s background and is pissed off at KWS.
KWS was elected as a Democrat, governs as a republican and now has a (until 9 days ago) registered republican as her campaign manager.
Time for KWS to go. Now!

UPDATE: My money is on Italo Carrieri-Russo. Additional rumors have come in that suggest he will be returning to the Republican Party for the St. Patricks Day “Loop” but will re-re-register as a Democrat by Memorial day.

And just to clarify, the state chair and one of the subdivision chairs was not in attendance. KWS had 2 people from her staff in attendance. Italo was one of them. Myself and several others did not know who he was. And yes, sensitive information was discussed.
Also of note, the print company that the party has used in the past for its campaign lit. has inked a deal with Charlie Copeland, so there is a scramble to get presumably sensitive info back from them.
To serve as an elected officer of the Democratic party in Delaware (this includes serving on a committee) you have to be a Democrat for 1 calendar year. However, no such limit exists for campaign managers. The Dem’s in attendance did have every right to ask him to leave, though.

Karen Weldin Stewart is too stupid and uneducated to even govern as a Republican, let alone do actual work as an insurance commissioner of any party affiliation. It’s done by merit staff who won’t talk about the total mess at the DOI because she and Jacobson threaten them with termination if they do, or by constant new hires who replace the ones who quit in disgust and who can be counted on to cover for her incompetence until they get the real picture, as well. November and a win by Mitch Crane can’t get here soon enough.

Yeah, SussexAnon, that print company is/was Farley Printing, owned by former State Democratic Chairman and current corporate whore Joe Farley.
Other than their wonderful design guy, Bill Englehardt, Farley’s was overpriced and the service stunk. We had to pull jobs out of there b/c, despite Farley using his pull to more or less force Democrats to use his company, jobs were frequently delayed, deadlines were not met. Something you don’t want during an election year.

Since VoteBuilder showed JSG-IC-R as a registered republican up until 12/12/11, then someone is not telling the truth. I’ll lay odds it’s JSG/EJ/IC-R/KWS (or whatever personality you’re channeling).
That Mr. Russo is trying to dodge the issue is pretty obvious. This has to be the final blow to whatever supposed legitimacy KWS and cronies claim despite the fact that she made herself a laughing stock a long time ago. At this point, any campaign by her for any office would be an embarrassment to the Democratic party and to herself, no matter who runs her campaign and how qualified or unqualified or what kind of interloper or infiltrator he may be. If Mr. Russo has any sense, he will ditch her post haste. If she had any sense, she would take her money and head for the hills before it’s too late.
