New Jobs Numbers Better Than Expected

This is good news.

Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 243,000 in January, and the unemployment rate decreased to 8.3 percent, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today. Job growth was widespread in the private sector, with large employment gains in professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and manufacturing. Government employment changed little over the month.

Looks like we’re heading in the right direction.

According to Keynes this is the time to raise taxes and reduce spending.

  2. This is wonderful news which I hope is sustained.

A sour note, however, is that Repubs have already begun to take credit
for this, giving credit to their do-nothing/obstructionist Congress for letting the free market operate.

It’s bogus, of course! No credit is forthcoming for the policies put in place by the President and the Dems.

Looks like Obama is a few points up on Intrade.

If Romney is going to actually win this, you’ll probably never get better odds betting on him…
