Republicans Regretting Romney Choice

Filed in National by on July 12, 2012 5 Comments

More Republicans are suggesting that “they might want to start exploring whether it is too late to replace Mitt Romney atop the party’s ticket.”

Given the growing concerns about Romney, it appears that Ron Paul’s delegate strategy now looks like a “hail mary” for those within the GOP still hoping for a brokered convention.

Delaware’s 10 Most Intriguing Primaries of 2012: The Top 5

Filed in National by on July 12, 2012 43 Comments

The 11th SD is the Big One. Folks, challenger Bryan Townsend is running a great campaign. Exactly the kind of grassroots campaign that you need to knock off a powerful and entrenched incumbent. Meanwhile, in the 23rd RD race between Baumbach, Grant, and Bock, all three deserve to be in public service. I’m not sure I can ever recall a race like this with three great D’s running. There is no consensus amongst the DL contributors, and there will be no consensus amongst the voters of the 23rd. Bottom line: The voters can’t lose when all the candidates are winners. Man, why can’t I have choices like this?

Republican Economics Explained

Filed in National by on July 12, 2012 0 Comments

“According to conservative logic, the more money the rich have, the more there is to trickle down to the rest of us. But the more money that trickles down to the rest of us, the less money the rich will have. So for trickle-down economics to work optimally, the rich should get all the money and then just keep it.”

I’ve never heard a more lucid explanation. Thank you Bill From Portland Maine.

The Polling Report [7.12.12]

We finally have some new state polls today!! Obama breaks out to substantial leads in Virginia, Colorado, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Pennsylvania; keeps a landslide lead in Maine and New Mexico, and takes a slim lead in North Carolina and Florida, Meanwhile, the national polls show either a tied race, a small lead for Obama or a large lead for Obama.

This changes our map just a little bit, as North Carolina moves from Slim Romney to Slim Obama. Otherwise, everything stays the same.

The County Executive Race Quandry

Filed in National by on July 12, 2012 72 Comments

Last night I got polled on the County Executive race. (It was clearly a Clark poll because the possible responses to the question, “How much do you love Paul Clark? ranged from, “A whole lot” to “So gosh-darn much”.)

Anyway, for the first time in a long time, I said – “I gotto go!” to a pollster. First of all, I did have to go. But I am also at a loss on this one.

Romney taking a beating on secret offshore accounts and unwillingness to disclose tax into

Filed in National by on July 11, 2012 15 Comments

This has to end poorly for Romney. He is hemorrhaging support in some key swing states, so he is either going to have to try and continue riding out the pummeling, or he is going to have to disclose his taxes and reveal the sources and purposes of his secret offshore accounts.
