I cannot wait for this film:

Meanwhile, for some unknown reason, Monica Lewinsky is shopping a top-secret book project, according to Page Six in the New York Post. Hey Monica, it is not 1999 anymore. I mean, I guess if she had written a tell all in the early 2000’s it would be made money, but now? She blew the President. We know that. She was pleasured with a cigar. We know that. What more detail can see possibly provide then the Starr Report? And the timing is odd too. Why not in 2008, when Hillary was running. Or how about waiting until 2016, when Hillary will be running again? It is just so very odd.

“[Romney’s] bluster is a coward’s idea of how a brave man acts: Never hesitate, never apologize. When you’re wrong, say it again, only louder,” – Mark Kleiman.

“And the lesson is clear: If we want to win the battle of ideas in the long term, we should be willing to face the fact that Mitt Romney is likely to lose — and should, given that he’s neither a true conservative nor a courageous moderate. He’s just an ambitious man. Nothing wrong with that, except when you want to be president. Great leaders combine ambition and ideas and conviction.” — Joe Scarborough.

As Unstable Isotope said on Twitter, if the following happened, I suspect the GOP will become instant fans of doing away with the electoral college:

“At least three Republican electors say they may not support their party’s presidential ticket when the Electoral College meets in December to formally elect the new president, escalating tensions within the GOP and adding a fresh layer of intrigue to the final weeks of the White House race,” the AP reports.

The electors — all are supporters of Ron Paul — said they “are exploring options should Mitt Romney win their states. They expressed frustration at how Republican leaders have worked to suppress Paul’s conservative movement and his legion of loyal supporters.”

OMG. That ‘Lincoln’ looks absolutely fantastic.

  2. I’m really looking forward to this movie too. Great cast, but Spielberg as director worries me with this material.

i’m not sure what i was expecting Lincoln to sound like, but for some reason i’m not down with Day Lewis’ voice interpretation in this trailer. too high? too soft? too gentle? i’m not sure.

    Still, movie looks great.

Lincoln had a raspier voice. more like Tony Danza.

Can’t believe this hasn’t been posted:

Here’s a story about the controversy. Short version: Lincoln had a high voice and a Kentucky accent. Day-Lewis’ interpretation conforms to that.

  7. Jason330

Funny stuff. “In 2016 I’m voting for the dream team – Michelle and Hilary.”

  8. V

I figured since it was DDL that he did extensive research and the interpretation was accurate. I just never realized the Lincoln in MY head wasn’t. Sort of like how you see a movie version of a book you read and the monster looks totally different.

  9. @Cassndra – I have no worries about Spielberg. He has stepped up several times throughout his career in making serious movies.

  10. V, I agree, although no one has ever heard Lincoln’s real voice, I always pictured it as very monotone, deep, solemn, and slow paced.

    With no accent.

But I like it when my mental pictures are shattered.

“I have no worries about Spielberg. He has stepped up several times throughout his career in making serious movies.”

Really? I can’t think of any of his “serious” movies that didn’t turn out to be an obvious, movie-of-the-week, “uplifting” mess. On his best days, he’s middlebrow.

  12. socialistic ben

hah! when i made that obscure pinky and the brain reference, i had forgotten he produced Anamaniacs. Anyway im excited to see this movie. Daniel Day-Lewis could fart the Isreali National Anthem and deserve and Oscar for it.

I guess you guys didnt see Schindler’s List.

  14. Everybody is entitled to their opinions even when they are wrong.

  15. socialistic ben

right, but your opinion is flawed since you are a contrarian.

  16. @nemski — true, but I wouldn’t have taken you for one of the middlebrow…learn something everyday, I guess.
    😉

@sb “I guess you guys didnt see Schindler’s List.”

Yea.. But we also saw AI and Crystal Skull.

I really liked AI. ET… Not so much.

But I should check, perhaps I’m entitled to 3 more votes!

  23. We got two robocalls. Because Markell reallyreally wants us at the kickoff. I understand that he LOVES my trenchant analysis.

Maybe all of those robocalls are the Governor’s campaign letting us know that he has campaign money to burn.
