Late Night Video — President Obama Tells You Why Trump is Mad at Him

Filed in National by on October 25, 2012 3 Comments

Awesome sauce and hysterical. One of the things that I like about President Obama is that when he is ready to own somebody, he knows how to do it without breaking the china. Trump is probably losing sleep over the fact that this Kenyan dissed him so publically. AGAIN.

BREAKING: Paul Clark Gone in Less Than 3 Weeks

Filed in Delaware by on October 25, 2012 28 Comments

This was news to me. Apparently it was a surprise to Paul Clark as well. He just found out. But here’s the applicable section from the Delaware Code (Title 9, § 1114):

§ 1114. Vacancy in office.

Whenever a vacancy occurs in the office of County Executive by reason of death, resignation, removal from office or other cause, the President of the County Council shall serve as County Executive until the latter office is filled as a result of an election. If a vacancy in the office of County Executive occurs more than 30 days prior to the date of a primary election in which county officers are nominated, the vacancy shall be filled for the remainder of the term in the next succeeding general election and the County Executive elected in this manner shall take office on the first Tuesday following such election. If a vacancy in the office of County Executive occurs less than 30 days prior to the date of a primary election in which county officers are nominated, the vacancy shall be filled for the remainder of the term by the President of the County Council. If the President of the County Council becomes County Executive, the President’s office as an elected official of the county governing body shall become vacant.

Guess we’d better keep a close eye on Clark to make sure that his limited window runs out with a minimum of chicanery.

“Sparks Fly at Debate”

Filed in Open Thread by on October 25, 2012 4 Comments

That’s the Delaware state News Headline. The News Journal saw fur flying. Anyway, something was flying. (Sparkly fur?!?!) Here is the News Journal’s Jonathan Starkey (mostly paraphrased by yous truly):

DOVER — Sen. Tom Carper was double teamed by wack-jobs.

Kevin Wade, a teabag, accused Carper of not reading the Affordable Care Act, and basically being a lazy douche.

Carper conceded the point on a technicality. “On the [Senate] Finance committee, (a place you will never see) we work off of plain English language,”

Open Thread – Delaware “Survivor” contestant didn’t survive long enough to annoy the sh*t out of me with her vocal fry

Filed in National by on October 25, 2012 6 Comments

After a few weeks of zero face time, Delaware’s “Katie” washed out of survivor, not with a bang – but a whimper.

After enduring a little smack talk from Jeff Probst during the elimination challenge, “Katie, completely ineffective in this challenge.” she was bounced at the tribal council.

If you substitute the word “show” for challenge in Probst’ statement you get a little closer to the truth.

The Polling Report [10.25.12]

The Polling Report [10.25.12]

Mark Halperin: “Chicago remains sufficiently funded and emboldened by its own polling to compete for the final two weeks in all nine of the battlegrounds: Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia in the South; New Hampshire in the North; Iowa, Ohio, and Wisconsin in the Midwest; and Nevada and Colorado in the West. As they have in the past, Obama campaign officials say they expect to win a high percentage of those states and conceivably could sweep all nine.”

“When pressed, the Obama officials with whom I met said that five of the nine stand out: Nevada, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, and New Hampshire. In that quintet, Democrats believe the combination of their current leads in polling, early voting (where applicable), and ground game makes their chances of winning even greater there than in the other four. And given the Electoral College math, unless Romney picks off one or more of those five states, Obama would win a minimum of 281 electoral votes and re-election.”

As Greg Sargent notes, the polling averages show Obama leading in each of those states as well.

The polls today also show Obama leading where it counts:
