Hoyer: Republicans Will Sink America To Drown Obama

More like this please...
Add House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) to the list of high profile Democrats who are publicly accusing Republicans of intentionally undermining the economy in order to defeat President Obama. “There’s no intention on behalf of the Republicans in the House of Representatives to try to help the president move this country forward,” Hoyer told a small group of reporters in his Capitol office on Thursday morning. “I quote Jesse Jackson, who I thought said it best, there are a lot people in Washington who want to drown the captain and are prepared to sink the ship in order to do so.”

Delaware’s MLR Facts

Facts are so passe. The right wing noise machine is so effective nowadays that even Allan Loudell will probably have someone from the CRI on this afternoon to "balance" these findings.

The Lies of the Lying Liar, Willard Mittens Romney, Pathological Liar Extraordinaire.
"We remember the president’s own party had a super majority in both houses for his first two years."
A number of the more purist liberals also believe this. A super majority is Constitutionally defined as two thirds, or 67%. The truth is the Democrats never enjoyed a super majority in the House of Representatives nor in the Senate.

DIY Post-Game/Pre-Game Show: Thurs., June 21, 2012

Been a tough couple of days. Unnecessary drama (with more than a touch of farce), next-to-no sleep, and a summer cold. Plus, I've got obligations and then work today. So, I'm gonna give you the raw materials, you can write today's Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show. Hey one of you could emerge as the next Lou Gehrig to my Wally Pipp. Which is likely the last baseball reference you'll see here for a long time.

NCCo Dem Executive Committee Endorses Clark-Taschner

Last night, the New Castle County Democratic Executive Committee endorsed Paul Clark for Executive and Renee Taschner for County Council President. The endorsement of Paul Clark is not a surprise. It would have been a surprise is they endorsed any one else. But I think the endorsement of Taschner is. Perhaps not over Bill Dunn, who is probably seen as an agitator by the Committee, though a damn smart and knowledgeable one. But over Chris Bullock? That is interesting.

Goodbye Frieda, and thank you.

Well known Delawarean environmental and peace activist Frieda Berryhill passed away today. She was well known in her efforts opposing nuclear power and weapons. She had turned 90 years old earlier this year. We are all a little less without her. I am going to post what appears to be an article about her that was posted on the UnplugSalem.org.

Contemptible Congress

When I was a wee lad, I had the utmost respect for Congress. I was in awe of my then Congressman, Byron Rodgers (D-Denver) who was the essence of a public servant. I was good friends with Congresswoman Pat Schroeder and Congressman & Senator Tim Wirth (who was a neighbor). That all changed after I moved to DC and began working for the government. I discovered that many of the 539 Members of Congress (including the delegates from DC, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands) didn't really give a damn about their constituents. It was all about getting face time on TV to make it seem as though they were doing something. This afternoon, Rep. Darrell Issa, chair of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, pushed through a resolution holding Attorney General Eric Holder in "Contempt of Congress." Better add my name to that resolution, Issa, because I hold you and the Teabag 112th Congress in the utmost contempt. Obstruction is the motto of this Congress.

An eating contest hero with a tragic flaw

In a world rife with injustice and poverty, eating contests are inherently despicable. Especially eating contests held in the United States, the greasy, bloated pig of nations. I've always given Philly's Wingnbowl a pass though. Already aggressively pitiful, I thought that there was no way an eating contest could bring more shame to the urine soaked, mumbling, punch-drunk place. ...anyway, El Wingador sold cocaine. ...

Wednesday Open Thread [6.20.12]

The lies of the lying liar named Willard Mittens Romney, pathological liar extraordinaire, are so legion and numerous that we can fill every open thread from now until the election and have room to spare, only going on what he has said so far in the campaign. So that is exactly what we are going to do.

General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Weds., June 20, 2012

Three things happened yesterday that illustrate everything that is wrong with the Delaware General Assembly. Screw the defenseless b/c they don’t have money to fill your reelection coffers; essentially bribe a candidate into dropping out of a race by passing special interest legislation especially for him; and quell a legislator’s road rage by getting those pokey drivers out of his way. Some days, I just hate this (non-paying) job.

GOP’s relentless war on the poor and middle class continues to impress

How many times have you heard some broke-ass teabagger quote this gem from memory?... "Almost 70 percent of the federal revenue is provided by the top 10 percent of taxpayers now. Between 45 percent and 50 percent of Americans pay no income tax at all." While we all know the trick, and we clearly see the clumsy slight of hand switcharoo mid-statement from "federal revenue" to "no income tax", this zombie economic lie goes on and on. How often have you heard the GOP leadership take the high ground when it comes to protecting America's wealthy from the rapacious greed of the nation's poor? Here is Mitch McConnell on the topic:
(CBS News) The United States tax code favors lower income Americans too much already and should be restructured to make it fairer to upper income earners, Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said.
