Best Picture: Silver Linings Playbook [Didn’t see it, but Bradley Cooper has naked pictures of the academy.]
Best Actor in a Leading Role: Hugh Jackman, [The academy still feels bad about not recognizing Jackman’s Wolverine.]
Best Actress in a Leading Role: Jessica Chastain, [Didn’t see any of the movies, but “Chastain” feels winnery to me.]
Best Director: Life of Pi (Ang Lee) [The academy loves green screen movies. While ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ was also shot entirely in front of green screens (little known fact) Cooper only gets to play the naked pictures card once. ]
i only saw two best pictures nominees this year (Silver linings and Argo). Both were fantastic but Argo literally had me holding my breath for like 20 minutes. Affleck was robbed.
also have you guys been hearing about the tribute numbers? looks like there’s a musicals tribute and a bond tribute. I’ve seen teasers of Jennifer Hudson reprising her Effie from Dreamgirls and Shirley Mothafuckin’ Bassey at rehearsal. I’m excited.
Shirley Bassey – whoot! Goldfinger was the best of the old classic Bonds.
Argo, Daniel Day Lewis, Jennifer Lawrence, David Russell
Why do Joan Rivers and Kelly Osborn have standing to talk about whether or not people are attractive?
Wonder why so many people make a big deal about Ben Affleck not being nominated as Best Director for Argo, but not that neither Quentin Tarantino or Kathryn Bigelow got nominated for their films?
I liked Argo ALOT and I thought better of ZDT that lots of others did, but both of them Hollywoodized real events.
Okay turns out Jessica Chastain wasnt the one who won the olympics, so im going to go with Emmanuelle Riva because the academy will throw a bone to Amore.
no i thought Kathryn Bigelow got nailed too. Oh a woman won once? She had her turn.
Austerity rocks, Here is Moody’s on Britain’s sluggish economy:
” Taken as a whole, the agency is saying, with a straight face, that “Britain’s attempts to cut its debt have harmed its attempts to cut its debt, and this could harm its attempts to cut its debt”, and it sees nothing problematic with that”
Who benefits in a global recession/depression? Nobody at first, but the wealthy will at least be able to continue their lifestyles as if nothing had happened.
But wage-earners will have to sell off their remaining assets to the wealthy for pennies on the dollar: drain their home equity and 401(k) plans, and spend down their savings. When it is “over” if it is ever over, the working and middle classes will have to live with permanently high unemployment and capitulate to lower wages and a lifestyle 20%, 30%, or more lower than they are experiencing now.
The only hope is that the armies of the displaced can vote in a welfare state and soak the rich to pay for it.
Actually our other hope is that the rest of the world is having an even shittier economy and we are doing well by comparison.
I LOVE this Oscar telecast
Christophe Waltz gets the Oscar they couldn’t give him for IngloriousnBastards.
Best Director: Life of Pi (Ang Lee) [The academy loves green screen movies. While ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ was also shot entirely in front of green screens (little known fact) Cooper only gets to play the naked pictures card once. ]
Probably gonna run the table, but have to get to bed.
