Anti-WBC Task Force Meetup Tomorrow Morning at 8:30

Filed in National by on June 5, 2015

Now I have been told that the perimeter surrounding St. Anthony’s will be tightly guarded tomorrow (as it should be with the President and the Vice President and lot of the Cabinet present), and that bags and signs and water bottles will not be permitted. And I have been told that it is highly unlikely that the Secret Service will allow any demonstration (pro or con) to be set up in sight of the Church, and thus, the family will not see the horror that is the Westboro Baptist Church. And it is quite likely that they will not even show up, or if they do it will be one or two lonely miscreants with a sign in each hand.

Regardless, a bipartisan group of Delawareans will be meeting at 8:30 am at the corner of Delaware Avenue and North DuPont Street by the ACME parking (across the street from the Logan House, right next to the train tracks). And we will walk up to see to the St. Anthony’s area to see if there are any WBC protestors around.

This will not be a violent mob. If we do encounter any, we will stand in front of them, with our backs to them to mute their protest. We will not argue with them either, for to argue with someone presupposes that they have intelligence and their minds can be changed. No, this is merely a show of support for the Biden family, for all those who mourn and respect Beau Biden, and for all Delawareans who stand for tolerance, equality, civility, and respect.

Here is a map of where we are meeting (the blue square) and where we will be walking to (the red flag pin).

In addition to the Newark group posted in the other thread, there is also this one:

    Amazing Grace Protection:

OUR GOAL IS AT LEAST 100 VOLUNTEERS

The Westboro Baptist Church activists have planned to disrupt and disrespect the funeral proceedings for former Delaware Attorney General, Beau Biden. The Delaware Patriot Guard is on standby, waiting for an invitation from the Biden family before they will deploy. But without an invitation from the family, the Guard will not take action.

Whether the Patriot Guard’s services are eventually invited or not, Delawareans can come together to peacefully protect the Biden family at this time of mourning from the hateful speech of the Westboro activists by exercising the same 1st Amendment rights. We will surround them and drown out their chants by singing the well-known hymn, “Amazing Grace,” for the duration of their protest.

Paper copies of Amazing Grace will be provided at the rendezvous point.

WE WILL MEET AT THE BASEBALL DIAMOND OF FATHER TUCKER MEMORIAL PARK, LOCATED AT THE CORNER OF LINCOLN & 10TH STREETS, AT 9:00 AM.

We will then walk one block to find the Westboro protesters, peacefully stand around them or between them and the church, and start in song. We will repeat all 7 verses of the song as many times as necessary until either WBC or the Bidens have left the area.

Yes, it is likely we will join this group.

That’s great, Jason. I am set to do a fundraising walk for Planned Parenthood tomorrow AM — if we are done at a reasonable time, will try to join up with you.

These comments prove there is still hope for our country. This right here is what being an American is all about. I didn’t vote for either Biden but both sacrificed so much to work for our state and our country. I’m so proud to see so many look way beyond the party lines and focus on the man who is so much more than his title. A great father, husband, son and friend. Westboro baptist will more than likely not even show up, they know what awaits them.

I’m an early riser. I have no plans for tomorrow morning. I’d be glad to shout down the hateful Phelps family and their minions.

I just can’t imagine why you’re all meeting at the Soviet Acme.

Is Trolley Square on the agenda afterwards?

Don’t know how your march came out but I suspect you and WBC got nowhere near the funeral. Got a first had report from a band member that non residents were cleared out of adjacent neighborhoods. He was working in the area and was made, not asked, to leave.
