I was going to write about this today too. I don’t mind that John Carney and Tom Carper make nice with Speaker Ryan or any Republican at a White House Christmas Party. I mind that they think bipartisanship is a goal in and of itself, so much so that they had someone take a picture, so much so that they posted that picture on Facebook telling everyone about how good it is that Carney made a new Friend and how good the Delaware Way is.

So, John Carney, Speaker Ryan really really hates Medicare and Social Security and his budget eliminates both. Are you voting for it in the name of bipartisanship? Because Bipartisanship is the end all be all point of your existence.

Matt Denn, for the love of God, run against this unmitigated disaster.

It is somehow really startling to continue to find out just HOW retrograde Carney’s thinking is on this topic. The past 15 years have literally escaped his attention. He is embarrassing and ridiculous.

…and he win with 60% of the vote. I guess that’s the point. I guess maybe this post was for the consumption of Charlie Copeland.

On December 5th Paul Ryan announced his extremists agenda:

    1. Reduce the top income-tax rate to 25% from the current 39%.
    2. Cut corporate taxes to 25% from the current 35%.
    3. Slash spending on domestic programs like food stamps and education for poor districts.
    4. Turn Medicaid and other federal programs for the poor into block grants for the states.
    5. Turn Medicare into vouchers that don’t keep up with increases in healthcare costs.
    6. Raise the retirement age for Social Security.
    7. Let the minimum wage continue to decline as inflation eats it away.

On December 7th John Carney made a new friend in Ryan and committed himself to good ole fashioned bipartisanship.

By “ole fashioned” Carney apparently means the style of bipartisanship in which Democrats allow themselves to get kicked in the teeth while they thank Republicans for kicking them.

I’m all for doubling the corporate tax rate. Common ground!

GAO: U.S. corporations pay average effective tax rate of 12.6%

Pretty sure the new friend part of the post was referring to the second picture in the facebook post which is omitted from this post.

  6. jason330 says:

It cracks me up when wingnuts come here and try to say that corporate taxes are high in the US. Explaining “effective tax rates” vs “statutory tax rate” makes me feel like a kindergarten teacher.

  7. jason330 says:

hmm, I guess you could argue that Paul Ryan is one of Carney’s old friends.
