My problem with this “inspirational” video is that is void of people. Where are the people? The only way Wilmington will rise up with the people, not buildings.

Maybe the lack of people is part of the design. I’m always struck by how often I see no one around when I’m down town late evening

  3. i think this is good. young was not my choice (who am i kidding, i don’t even live in wilmington) but this ad makes wilmington seem like something worth saving. something important. don’t know if that translates into the hard work that actually makes things better. but i like the vision.

Man 1: I got an idea. Why don’t you make an inspirational video of Wilmington?
    Man 2: I’m on it.
Man 1: But don’t show any people or their neighborhoods, just office buildings.
Man 2: Oh, I can do that.
Man 1: You understand that by people, don’t have any pictures of African-Americans.
Man 2: Dude, I’m not even going into Wilmington, I’m renting a helicopter and flying above the refuse.
Man 1: Good, we are on the same page.

Where were the people you say! Were they afraid to walk the streets, show themselves, expose their children to the violence, maybe. Were they afraid of the
guns, the stray bullets, being kidnapped on their way to school. It is time for
Wilmington and other cities alike to “Rise Up” so their people can be free.
