It may be hard to imagine, but I fear this election campaign is going to get worse — maybe a lot worse — before it gets better. By the time it’s done, the whole nation may feel like it needs a shower. […]
I expect Trump to double down not just on his attacks against Clinton but also on the two issues that won him his white working-class following: immigration and trade. That means more bigotry, more xenophobia and more totally unrealistic promises about the miracles that he and his team of rich-guy economic advisers will magically perform.
Question of the Day
Will support for or against Trump in 2016 become the litmus test for future Republican candidates, the way the Iraqi War vote was in the 2008 Democratic Presidential Primary?

I tend to ignore Kathy McGuinness because her campaign is not credible, and because I tend to think that BHL is an odds on favorite to win. Still, our next Lt Governor will be the winner of the crowded Dem primary and crazy shit can happen.
When You Are Running for Mayor for the City of Wilmington and Your Campaign HQ Isn’t In the City
I imagine Dennis Williams’ campaign manager could be a bit rusty as to where the City boundaries are since he, like many of the Mayor’s top people, does not live in the City. Yes folks, the Mayor’s campaign headquarters is located on the wrong side of the road. In the County, possibly escaping City Wage taxes? This is 311 E. Lea Blvd, across from the Goodwill facility. According to Parcel View, this building is in New Castle County, but not in Wilmington. It is in a strip mall that doesn’t seem to have many occupants. Today there was one car in the parking lot, in front of the Campaign building.

Just how badly did Trump blow his convention? The Fix: “Before the conventions, the plurality of support each candidate received was thanks to people who wanted to vote against the alternative. In other words, most people who said they were backing Hillary Clinton were backing her because they wanted to see Trump lose, and vice versa.”
“After the conventions, though, that changed: A slight plurality of Clinton supporters now back her because they want her to be the president. Trump’s position improved slightly — but the percentage of support he gets from people who are doing so out of enthusiasm for his candidacy is still lower than the percent who said that about Clinton before the conventions began. Before the conventions, 57 percent of those who backed Trump did so because they opposed Clinton; after the conventions, that figure was 56 percent.”

When Speaker Paul Ryan was asked by Charlie Sykes whether there’s anything that would cause him to rescind his endorsement of Donald Trump. he said, “Of course.” But he wouldn’t say what that is. Said Ryan: “Where that line gets crossed, I don’t know where that is.”
So everything that has come before is endorsed by Ryan, the leader of the GOP. Which means all Republicans are just fine with banning Muslims, being racist towards Latinos and Blacks, dishonoring Gold Star families, and using nuclear weapons.
