Joy Reid: Leave Nancy Pelosi Alone!  I agree with her. We’re gonna put that centrist asshole from Ohio in her spot? Hope not.

The Business Of Compensating Victims:  Turns out it’s mostly a mom-and-pop operation. Interesting read from the NYTimes.

Trumpcare Not Draconian Enough For the Koch Heads. When the history of our democracy’s demise is written, the Citizens United decision that unleashed the Koch Brothers will be front and center.

Twitter: Donald Trump’s Diary.  A real-time diary with potentially lethal political consequences.

Christina River Bridge Project: Boon To Economic Development?  It will be a boon to the workers on the project, at the very least.

  1. Paul Hayes says:

Corporate media had been out to get Nancy Pelosi for some time. The Sunday talk shows rarely have had her for interviews in all her years as leader. They’d rather talk to Dems who either have less experience or don’t make the case for liberalism as well as she does. I add my voice to “leave her alone.”

  2. SussexWatcher says:

All the current Dem congressional leaders are too old to lead efforts to reform the Obama coalition and bring energy and enthusiasm back. We need a 40something person of color or a woman leading the charge.

  3. Andy says:

What ever happened to results meaning something. Between the Clintons being in charge at the DNC and Nancy Pelosi in charge of the House Dems we went from total domination to nothing

  4. puck says:

“All the current Dem congressional leaders are too old…”

Age has nothing to do with it. Mitch McConnell is 75 years old and kicking Democrat butts.

Why don’t Dems demonize McConnell the same way they demonize Pelosi? Every Dem candidate should run ads accusing his opponent of furthering the McConnell agenda. And there is no shortage of McConnell/turtle images for a nasty troll campaign, just like they do to us.

  5. Puzzler says:

I CAN’T remember one thing Nancy Pelosi ever said that was compelling.

I CAN remember a bunch of things Bernie Sanders said that were.

  6. chris says:

Nancy Pelosi should take a lesson from Cincinattus. In other words, serve and then go home. The problem is these professional politicians become so delusionally self-important they think they are the only ones who can save the party. It’s narcissism, and the upper leadership ranks would rather be on a slowly sinking ship than rock the boat.

  7. puck says:

Nancy Pelosi sent a public option health care bill to the Senate, which may have been the single most progressive piece of legislation in my adult lifetime, but other Dems couldn’t or wouldn’t follow through. Same for the middle-class-only tax cut bill upon expiration of the Obama/Bush tax cuts for the rich.

  8. Ben says:

She must have known it was going to die in the Senate. In that sense, it was about as meaningful as the 46354213525 times repukes repealed the ACA under Obama.

  9. alby says:

Those who want to remove Pelosi without knowing the alternative are like people who voted for Trump because anything was better than the status quo. The phrase “things can’t get any worse” is always inaccurate.

  10. Delaware Left says:

Regardless of her abilities as a legislator, you’d have to be an absolute fool to want to continue with her as house leadership.

Since she was Speaker, we’ve lost 38 seats. At some point you have to try do something different.

  11. chris says:

Exactly, Delaware Left…if your starting pitcher gets home runs hit off him every single inning, at some point, don’t you bring in a reliever to change the dynamic? Short answer: YES. Nothing personal to Speaker Pelosi, you either produce or move on for the good of the organization to try to improve the situation.

Are these the same apologists who thought Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was ‘so effective’ for the DNC leadership? Obama’s team hated her but didn’t want the turmoil or removing her. Then it was exposed she was all in for Hilary and wasn’t playing fair as she had proclaimed for 18 months that she was. then she had to resign in disgrace right before the DNC Convention. to prevent a revolt..
For her vocal defenders, not a peep from them now.
