Trump Pardons Joe Arpaio While Nobody Is Looking

Under cover of wall-to-wall hurricane coverage, Trump pardons one of the most despicable people in America, despicability being what they have in common:

    I beg to disagree (mildly). If he wanted to use the maximize use of the hurricane as cover for the pardon, he would have waited five or six hours, or perhaps until morning, to make the announcement.
    Now that the pardon’s out of the way, he’s got no excuse for not wading into disaster relief.

    Contempt of contempt of court. Trump has now invented a new crime.

    Nah, everybody noticed. I see it as yet another self inflicted wound and perhaps something to push Arizona towards being a blue state.

    The pardon emboldens his crazy base…..it will likely be forgotten in 6 months. Arpaio is an old cook who will fade away into the sunset. This act won’t push Arizona into being a blue state. Will be interesting to see if Flake wins his primary or a far right nut case prevails. If a nut case, then yes, D’s have a shot to steal the Senate seat.

    My first thought was that Arpaio will now be appointed to a WH immigration advisor position.

    @Paula: You might be right
    @Chris: That’s the hope out here in AZ anyhow. In AZ registered independents outnumber Dems. If Flake is the nominee, I would guess that he would be re-elected. If it’s Kellie Ward, then Kyrsten Siemma probably beats her
