Moore’s defense is no defense
If you are a thirty year old man and need to ask a girl’s mother if it is okay to date her daughter – you are officially a creep and unequivocally too old for that girl. Case closed.

Yeah, but by Moore’s reasoning, if Mom says it’s OK, then whatever happens to the daughter on the date is Mom’s fault.

The Breitbart army is smaller than you think, and it doesn’t all live in Alabama. Much more likely, IMO, that officials reset the election date and they replace Moore, probably with Strange, which is what McTurtle wanted all along. They still might lose, though. For a lot of tax cut-lust Trumpers, this really is further than they’re willing to go.
I know people from Alabama. Some of them are not hypocrites, they actually believe in family values. When I saw them yesterday they were white as ghosts.
Here’s Allred’s new witness, who has a signature from “Roy Moore, DA, 12-22-77” in her high school yearbook, held a news conference news conference earlier today. Let’s see how they deny the evidence.
And Alabama’s governor says she believes the women BUT WILL STILL VOTE FOR MOORE! I guess she would rather vote for a Born- Again Christian child molester than a Democrat.
I’m a big picture guy. So, one thing I have noticed with sexual harassment and abuse claims over the last several decades or so is that sexual abuse or harassment charges against prominent and powerful democrats seem to be made public at random times. On the other hand, sexual harassment and abuse charges against republicans (which are about 1/10th as frequent) always seem to be made public just before election time, often times with democrats helping to publicise. Seems like a big mystery, how that can be?
Locals say Moore was banned from the local mall because of his cruising for teenage girls.
These were the first three Republican sex scandals that came to mind. I looked them up; here are the dates when the stories broke:

Gov. Mark Sanford: Oct. 2009
None of them is anywhere close to an election; indeed, they were shortly after reelection in at least two of the cases.

I notice how he asked the girls’ mothers, not their fathers. As with the 14 year old it seems like he was looking for the vulnerable ones.

Not at all surprising.
The current line of defense is that Moore (34 at the time) wrote in the teen’s yearbook. Again…not a defense at all.
The thing that gets me is they (the far right, evangelicals, whatever you want to call them) is that I thought they would exhibit some degree of chagrin at their abject hypocrisy which is pervasive in nearly every aspect of their lives. But they don’t.
It’s as if it doesn’t even register. So many of their opinions and actions are contrary to their stated values that they would be living schizophrenic lives filled with dread from the moment they awake in the morning till they drop at night from sheer exhaustion at having to cope with the disconnect between what they say they believe and what they actually do.
But such is not the case. They seem to be able to cope with that massive cognitive dissonance through belief disconfirmation (dismissing the contradiction as false) or justifying the behavior by exaggerating the importance of the outcome (I have to vote for Moore so the Democrat doesn’t win).
Even so, the effort required to cope with that dissonance has to take a toll on their mental health and I am continually amazed that they are able to maintain a hold on reality and not snap.
I have values, I just don’t feel the need to run them up the flag pole to share them with everyone. I’m smart enough to not provide others with my own measure of my life. I guess the difference between myself and them is that they seem to revel in their ignorance and hypocrisy. At least I manage to keep my hypocrisy under wraps!
This… banned from the mall for cruising young girls… must be the last nail in Moore’s political coffin, right?

Yeah, that is strange. They’ve openly and publicly abandoned the gospel of JC.. and for what? To be on the side of the “winners”. It is puzzling and disgusting.
