The famed “Dreamy Surf”, cool moody song. But Surf is instrumental music, no vocals allowed, the Beach Boys are not really a surf band per se. Think ( of course ) Dick Dale, The Astronauts and to a lesser extent the Ventures. And now that you’ve got me going surf has continued and advanced since it’s pre Beatles heyday to have a “Second wave” and a third wave as well about 20 years ago. Their now incorporating elements of punk, metal, middle eastern and even a little bit of jazz now and then. It has zero pop appeal and no airplay what so ever. Did I mention I’ve been trying to start a surf band in Delaware for years and years? Damn musicians! Always making music difficult!

    Motown for boring white people.

  3. RE: I chose this song b/c it’s kinda the Beach Boys before it all came together for Brian Wilson. But you could hear some of the elements that would later resonate. Uh, including the insipid lyrics.

Don’t worry, ‘Boozer. I’ve picked out some serious gems for the rest of the week. But, you know me, don’t anticipate the obvious.

I’ll pass on the beach boys and the butt holes. Bring on Dick Dale! Self taught and upside down if I am not mistaken.
