Diamond and Silk Piss On Satire’s Grave

Filed in National by on April 26, 2018

Fox News performers Diamond and Silk — Lynette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson to authorities — repeatedly lied under oath to Congress today about a payment they received from the Trump campaign.

“You have never been paid by the Trump campaign?” Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee asked again.

“We have never been paid by the Trump campaign!” Hardaway shot back, growing increasingly agitated.

“Not $5, not $100?” Lee pressed. “Not $1,274.94?”

“We have never been paid!” she yelled back.

When shown records from the Federal Election Commission, specifically a November 2016 receipt from the Trump campaign for $1,274.94 for “field consulting,” the duo called it “fake news” and said it was reimbursement for airline tickets. Why the discrepancy? The campaign made a mistake, Richardson said. Uh-huh.

The sisters, who hail from North Carolina, have 1.5 million Facebook followers, but they were in Congress to whine that they’re being censored by the platform because they’re conservative.

Per the New York Daily News, Trump has long lauded the pair, inviting them to his campaign rallies and to the White House for Oval Office visits. During his unhinged rant on Fox & Friends on Thursday said they have “become amazing,” listing them among the “warriors” of the Republican party.

I realize this is just part of the circus the public is getting in lieu of bread, but I thought it noteworthy for setting a low-water mark in public discourse that’s going to be hard to get below.
