April 30 Open Thread: Won’t Someone Think of the Trumpkins?

Filed in National, Open Thread by on April 30, 2018

Washington is running out of fainting couches, as dozens of media figures have joined conservative snowflakes in expressing shock, shock at Michelle Wolf’s routine Saturday night at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Even the Orange Excrescence took offense, calling her “filthy” (he’s totally skeeved by women unless he’s fucking them) and calling for an end to the annual dinner.

I actually agree with that suggestion. The post-dinner groveling from mainstream media people shows why — this is a monument to access journalism, which is not really journalism at all. Many people have noted that, while Wolf was performing, Trump was giving a speech full of his usual hateful bullshit. I find that sort of performance by a bad president who plays a bad standup comedian far more offensive.

As has been widely noted, everything Trump touches turns to shit. Example: Dr. Ronny, who won’t even get to keep his old job as Trump’s malleable physician (239 lbs? With one foot on the floor, maybe).

One of the polling surprises this election year comes from Tennessee, where former Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen is consistently outpolling Tea Party darling Marsha Blackburn. Turns out that, while Bredesen was a popular governor, Blackburn has been acting like an entitled asshole for a long time and has made lots of enemies in both parties.

It seems the end is near for Sen. John McCain. His son-in-law told the Arizona Republic that McCain hugged him and said, “Take care of Meghan for me.” McCain just left the hospital and is resting at his Sedona retreat.

Open thread call-out to REV: How was the show this weekend? I am going to try to make it next year when I have a place to crash at my kid’s off-campus house.

Fantastic. Saw 2 groups of Mardi Gras Indians yesterday. And David Bryne… And John Mayall…

Festival’s been super. And the Galactic show at Tip’s was a classic.

Missus & I are going to chill a few days. Maybe hit some smaller laid back venues.

Festival goes a second weekend and we have passes for Thursday. Need to see Toots and Maytals. Can’t be missed.

It’s a great event and unlike the typical music festival it’s a very diverse crowd with families and kids. Strong recommend.

    Kid’s going to Tulane?

    Yup on Tulane.

Great sightings. Glad to see that Toots is back on stage.

I am always amazed at the family atmosphere that pervades NOLA events like this. I think my son picked Tulane partially because of a great atmosphere at the Rock and Bowl with partiers from 1-90 years old.

    Enjoy!

From what i’ve Seen thus far, our state legislature cares more about selling guns than saving our kids. Disgraceful.
