It must be election season

I’m back to tussling with fellow Democrats over the question of who is to blame for poor Democratic turnout at the polls, and lackluster performance by Dem majorities in the state legislature. Is it the voters with Democratic sympathies who don’t show up, or the lackluster “leadership” of the Democratic Party that is the hobbling factor?

Recent history speaks loudly on this topic, but there are still (somehow) Dems around that blame the D’s losses on the crowds in the stands for not cheering on their mediocre team loudly enough.

If Democratic leaning voters just cheered on the mediocrity loud enough, somehow things would change.

All hail the party. If everything they do isnt the best, you’re a racist and it’s your fault for not loving Tom Carper enough.

    I blame purity tests.

I blame candidates and politicians that aren’t worth a good god damn, as for “purity tests” may I offer Tom Carper and await your reply. How about a message? You remember, that something you can believe in , work and hope for? Something, anything other than “we’re not as bad as them”, because that’s all we’ve had since Bill Clinton.

I blame the progressives. They need to break off and renew their Communist Party.

  5. RE Vanella says:

We’re trying, Tom. We really are. Good news. Your name is only on the Reeducation list, not “the other list.”. For now

    Good one, REV.

I have never seen a more inept performance by a state party in full control of government than this General Assembly.

When you’re being outmaneuvered on the Senate floor by conservative twerp Anthony Del Collo, you should be too ashamed to run for re-election.

I know it who did it! I demand an apology! I provide fine content here!

And their politics are garbage. Stop being a fucking baby.

Political energy starts with a local party committed to engagement by the base. This goes way beyond showing up for RD spaghetti suppers. I am accustomed to a local party whose leadership encourages activists to create committees and do work on projects and issues needing attention. A party that encourages the creation of party based issues and yes, identity caucuses to undertake work, including voter education and mobilization. What I experience here is a party, even with new, reformist leadership which seems to see their mission to meet the minimum number of leadership meetings in a year with lots of talk and few actual work projects outside of preparing the base for elections. And if work is to be done, it is mainly offloaded onto party officers with little engagement of grassroots members. No campaign style messaging on party values year around; mostly just alot of bundling of social media articles that minimally reflect the values expressed in our local platform. What we have here is a tail wagging the dog organization, not driving the legislative agenda but being wagged by our electeds.

You talk about “party values” as if Delaware Democrats have any. They don’t. They care about nothing beyond getting ahold of the levers of power so they can get jobs for their relatives and cronies.
