Various Degrees of Fucked Up’edness
When your Grandpa watches too much Fox News and decides to hate Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and “liberals” with a white hot hatred – that’s fucked up, but more or less harmless. Except at Thanksgiving, when too many drinks can combine with too little to do for explosive (but localized) mayhem.
When FBI agents working out of the New York office collectively watch too much Fox News, have personal relationships with wingnut members of congress, and decide to hate Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and “liberals” with a white hot hatred – that’s really fucked up, and not harmless. Allowing the FBI to become partisan was James Comey’s biggest failure among many failures.
When an easily manipulated idiot millionaire President watches too much Fox News, has business relationships with Russian oligarchs, and decides to hate Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and “liberals” with a white hot hatred – that is a level of fucked up the country has no process for dealing with.
I had heard early on in the campaign that FBI agents in New York state hated Clinton with a vengeance due to her actions when a senator, and that they wanted to leak an assortment of “dirt” to damage her campaign. Suspect we’ll never really know what happened, Comey on a witness stand or not. Perhaps we should hire that Avenatti guy, he seems to get results.
Vanity Fair: “…’as early as 2015, a rumor was floating around that the F.B.I. agents in New York were cracking jokes about seeing Hillary Clinton in handcuffs. “It was widely understood that there was a faction in that office that couldn’t stand her and was out to get her,” this person says.”
The ingredients were in place, but Fox News was the constant fire under the pot. Comey mishandled it because he was more concerned with his legacy than the law.
Think about this @Jason330. Comey knew that there was a faction in the NYC FBI office that wanted to make public the Humma laptop info. He had no way to stop them, they had their ways to get it out. What to do? Get in front of it, take the sting for going against the ethic of not hitting politicians during the end of an election. Say what you will about him, but that was my take from the first. Those agents are the real problem and they’ll never pay for it. It’s not that FBI agents aren’t people with opinions, that’s okay. It’s that they abuse their position that’s so wrong.
