Is Ken Simpler a racist? Yes, he is.

Filed in National by on August 6, 2018

For all of the damage that Trump has inflicted on America, we need to thank the President for one thing. He has stripped away the pretense that the GOP is not a white supremacist, racist organization.

Trump has made it absolutely clear that ANY politician running under the “R” banner is complicit in advancing and supporting a white supremacist, racist organization. That includes Ken Simpler and any otherwise “nice” republican still trying to pretend that GOP of 2018 is he GOP of 1990 or even the GOP of 2010.

Is it fair to single out Ken Simpler in a headline as a racist? I mean Simpler is probably outwardly nice to the minorities he comes in contact with, but this is much bigger than individual relationships. And if I am wrong, all Simpler would have to do to prove me wrong is renounce his affiliation with the white supremacist, racist organization that is the GOP in the age of Trump. One year after the President aligned the GOP with the white supremacist, racist attacks in Charlottesville, it is not too late for Simpler to do the right thing.

  1. Paul says:

Simpler carried out his duties as Treasurer by hiring an accounting firm to do all the grunt work normally done by the Treasurer. He then pocketed his salary as if he had done all the work and left taxpayers to pay for the hired services.

  2. jason330 says:

…and yet I’d vote for him if he had the guts to renounce the white supremacist, racist Republican Party. He could even become and Independent for all I care.

  3. jason330 says:

furthermore… I don’t think random civilians who are Republicans by inclination or habit are all racists. They may be, or may not be.

I’m saying the racists are the elected officials who by virtue of their connection with the party are endorsing the party’s leadership it on a daily basis.

  4. RE Vanella says:

It the same simple logic I use for cops. There may be cops that are otherwise perfectly nice/good people, but there are no good cops.

If you sign on to the Republican agenda in any fashion at this point you are in fact a racist.

I’m tired of splitting hairs because it hurts people’s feelings. All this time I thought the “libs” were overly sensitive….

  5. Anon says:

Not being funny or offensive but I am worried about you even if I don’t know you. I think most of you have lost touch with reality or are at the beginning stages. Turn off your TV, detach from social media, go to work (find a hobby other than this blog and politics if you’re retired) and spend time with family. If that doesn’t work please seek the help you need.

  6. Jason330 says:

I guess that means you won’t be ditching the R brand then?

  7. Jason330 says:

Also can you be more constructive with your criticism? What part of the post indicates a break with reality?

Trump hasn’t exposed the GOP for the racist organization it is?

Simpler isn’t supporting the racist GOP by being a member ?

It is too late for Simpler to do the right thing?

    I’m honestly asking.

  8. RE Vanella says:

I don’t watch TV. I’m not even on social media. I hosted a family cookout Saturday and played cricket yesterday. (I was out caught and bowled. Ball held up in the pitch and skidded onto the bat. Popped right back to the bowler.)

Anon – I don’t understand your point. I think you’re confused or maybe very tired. Did you get enough sleep?

  9. jason330 says:

In a way, this post also asks.. what’s Simpler’s strategy here?

My guess (FWIW) is that he is going to try lay low and wait out Trump like he is some kind of fever. Then go back to pretending that the GOP isn’t racist, but wholly concerned with low taxes, Freedom and opportunity. Or, whatever empty wing-nut nonsense is in vogue a few years from now.

My hope is that this strategy isn’t tenable.

  10. Ben says:

I think the real problem here is that the Carneycrats are so pathetic, a racist tea-bag like Simpler was able to win statewide election. Why does John Carney support being a part of such a shitty party, that they lose to racists?

  11. Jason330 says:

It is true. A great many Dems take part in keeping the ruse afloat.

  13. jason330 says:

If Simpler sneaks through to November without being called out as a Republican, Coons and Carper will have payed a big part in allowing that to happen. Carper and Coons have a lot more in common with Ken Simpler than they have with me.

    Dear Lurkers –

Use your sway with Simpler to get him to do the right thing.

    Sincerly,

I thought we were all considered racist. At least the white ones.

But, yes, supporting any Republican would be painful.

  16. RE Vanella says:

In some sense, sure. We all participate.

    I recognize & try.

How many times have I bragged about being a class traitor?

I love those lurkers, by the way. They’re our biggest fans.

I was being ironic, but OK. I was set off by the New York Times article about The Nation apolgizing for a poem it printed.

  19. RE Vanella says:

OK. Well, if anyone was wondering unironically, that’s my answer.

  20. RE Vanella says:

Serious question. The trolling is way down. Frequency & quality. Are you banning, cats?

  21. nathan arizona says:

Did you see the one of a cat watching a horror movie? Highly recommended.

No they are just quitting I guess. Hard to imagine they having enough self awareness to quit but there you have it
