Day After Debate Reactions Thread

Filed in National by on August 28, 2018

Tom Carper’s defense against all of his bad votes is that he was misled and fooled by his Republican friends. How the hell is that a defense?

Harris and Carper each want to protect the women’s right to choose.

“Women should have some freedom and some choices to make, under the law they do, it’s been that way for years and it should continue to be that way,” said Carper.

Harris didn’t agree with Carper’s use of the word some.

“I don’t want some freedoms, I want all of my freedoms,” said Harris.

She also didn’t agree with Carper saying Roe v. Wade is settled law especially with the debate over Kavanaugh.

“We know that the law that we’re told is settled, can be overturned,” said Harris. “So, it’s easy again to say that there are protections, but here is again why I’m saying we need diversity because as women we understand there aren’t enough women there (Congress) fighting for us.” – WDEL

Harris told the audience of about 700 that her lack of “experience” is her strength.

“The problem is we need diversity in experience,” said Harris, who criticized Carper for voting to confirm Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh to a federal appeals court in 2006.

“If everyone is viewing the world through the same lens, you get people like Kavanaugh because you spoke to people in your network and they told you he’s a good guy.” – The News Journal

It is all GOTV now. Harris needs 29,000 who are sick of Trump and the Corporate/DLC/Third Way Democratic Party.

Carper needs dem primary voters (who never voted in primaries before) to sleepwalk into the booth and look for familiar names.

Harris moved the ball toward the goal line, but I’m calling it a toss up.

After calling Carper’s office to let them know I watched his poor performance last night and advised him to accept defeat in the upcoming primary, I called Coons’ office to advise him that he better stop listening to those fine folk across the aisle that Tom has been listening to for so long, or else, his tenure in the Senate will be short!

  3. Reality Check says:

Love you guys and the crit of Carper is needed (at times) .

But she’s going to get maybe 25 percent of the vote. And, to be honest, she has no business being in the u.s. senate. At. All.

She was the 10th? person asked because everyone else said no. She was the only one naive enough to listen to the bullshit promises from all of these “progessives” nationally.

I look forward to all of these people going back to the Bronx personally.

  4. Reality Check says:

Oh and I love all of the platitudes about democracy and “The People” as much as the next person but when your electoral victory strategy relies on low turnout and making sure it stays low………. then it’s not really populist, is it?

    but thanks for playing!

She will win with a larger turn out because people who don’t vote will go to the polls to vote someone they believe in.

I guess we’ll know next week. I’m always suspicious of anonymous prognosticators.

The good news is if you really thought this you wouldn’t be here commenting. So that’s good.

  6. jason330 says:

The Carper bots are getting a work out today.

  7. RE Vanella says:

Yep. I personally enjoy the random numbers ..

    25%… 10th…

Remember kids. Try to keep the gaslighting to the stuff we don’t know. When you lie about the stuff we know, it’s a pretty big tell.

  8. Reality Check says:

Ok political geniuses. I’ll just forward thoughts to Congressman Bryan Townsend and all of the other “winners” you’ve called over the past few years.

  9. jason330 says:

I’m calling it a toss up. And long time readers will note that I alone was right about Trump’s chances, so … political genius…? Ok. If you say so.

  10. Anon says:

Carper is going to win and there’s nothing you nutjobs can do about it. Go form a new party.

  11. RE Vanella says:

I may not be a political genius. But I’m not an anonymous troll. I’m not I coward. I’ll take that. Plus my writing is much better. I’m way hipper. Yeah, I’m good.

As far as election results… Nobody knows. You don’t either. Doesn’t take a genius to know that.

  12. jason330 says:

You’d think a Hillary Clinton supporter would be a little less cocksure.

  13. RE Vanella says:

I am digging this forming a new party idea though. Gotta keep it real.
