Song Of The Day: Oct. 27, 2018

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on October 27, 2018

We take requests here at Song Of The Day. But we only honor them when the songs are as memorable as this one. The original ‘Caravan’, done by Barney Bigard & His Jazzopators. All the musicians in the Jazzopators were members of Duke Ellington’s Orchestra. Ellington plays piano here, with Cootie Williams on trumpet, Juan Tizol, who wrote the song, on trombone, Bigard on clarinet, Harry Carney on baritone sax, Billy Taylor on bass, and Sonny Greer on drums. Enjoy!:

Just to be clear, I requested it because I thought the Caravan of Doom deserved a theme song, especially one with a Middle Eastern flavor to the melody. Those embedded ISIS terrorists are foxtrotting closer every day.
