Simpler & DE GOP continue shameful silence on politically motivated violence

Filed in National by on October 29, 2018

This is the GOP we are up against in Delaware. Instead of a clear statement denouncing political violence spurred by Donald Trump’s inflammatory racist rhetoric – we get shameful silence from DEGOP leader Ken Simpler.

Well, not complete silence. Like Trump, Simpler kept campaigning, so at least there is this:

Ken Simpler for Delaware
19 hrs ·
State Treasurer Ken Simpler had a fun filled day of learning with the MPHS Green Knights as Mt. Pleasant’s Delaware Principal for a Day!

A Fun Filled DAY !!!

Simpler clearly is trying to keep his head down on this issue, as he has tried to elide the fact that Donald Trump’s hate driven policies loom over this mid-term election.

At least shameful silence isn’t Simpler’s worst possible reaction. it is cowardly but it is not as inhuman as Republican Senator John Coryn’s public reaction, which was to crop a Pelosi quote about climate change from two weeks ago to make it appear she is dismissing the victims of political violence as “collateral damage.”

I would add that Delaware media continues to play along with this “mum’s the word” strategy from the DEGOP, which is also nauseating.

In a newsroom driven by press releases, official statements, and schedules of bill-signing schedules, if a politician has nothing to say, it can’t be news.
Their enterprise reporting these days consists primarily of telling us which restaurants the Board of Health has closed a couple of days after they’re allowed to reopen.
