Coonsian Utopia

Filed in National by on October 30, 2018

This is sickeningly predictable.

If Trump leaves office, things just don’t snap back to “normal” as too many people seem to believe. The biggest mistake a Democrat will make in 2020 is running on the “let’s make Washington bipartisan and good again” as if the only problem is Trump, as if bipartisanship is good, as if letting Republicans off the hook is a noble goal, as if we are a nation of West Wing fans who think Washington ever was or ever will be “good.”

Coons’ bulbous head will be first in line to lead the “Let bygones be bygones – We’re all happy bipartisans now!” parade.

Yep. No doubt Senate comity & return to norms will instantly be the most pressing agenda item.

If Dem control the Senate there will be no shortage of R support for PayGo and judicial filibusters.

Doesn’t look like Democrats will win the Senate, though.

One day they will and on that day – and since a Senate seat is a lifetime sinecure, Coons will rush to get his mug on Morning Joe to inform the world that Senate Democrats are so morally superior to Republicans that they are allowing the GOP to keep half the committee chairs.

The next Dem president has to end the custom of appointing Republican cabinet members
