New Zealand shows what gun sanity looks like
There is no reason to allow people to walk around with military-style, high capacity machine guns.
(CNN)All military-style semi-automatic weapons, assault rifles and high-capacity magazines will be banned in New Zealand following the mass shootings at two Christchurch mosques that killed 50 people, New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced on Thursday.
It will cost $138 million to rid New Zealand of the deadliest of its 1.5 million firearms.
Cheap!
I caught the tail end of an NPR story this morning. NZ gun shop owner already pulled all semi-automatic long guns and high capacity magazines voluntarily the day after the massacre.
The owner of the gun club/range that the murder belonged to closes on funeral days out of respect.
Kiwis are simply better people than us. We’re slime-ball garbage people.
Sad agreement with Revanella, a substantial percentage of Americans fill the bill for slime ball. There is a common sense approach to gun violence, Australia did it years ago and nary a massacre in sight. Now New Zealand wakes the hell up. Us? I ain’t gonna live that long.
No. I’m optimistic on this. Change is possible. We outnumber the slime-ball garbage people.
The impossible is always impossible up until the moment that it isn’t.
I admit it, I almost gave up hope after Sandy Hook and Las Vegas, two incredibly tragedies that should have roused the nation to action. And yet nothing. I’m up for any and all efforts to stem the gun plague, perhaps I need to step up my game and get out there, it could not hurt.
I certainly understand cynicism at this point, but things are happening. Socialists are getting elected. People who have come of age never having experienced American prosperity are fed-the-fuck-up. Etc.
Laughable – Socialism is hailed by failures like yourself.
