In fact, she is not only working but “leading”

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE-AL), issued the following statement after voting to pass H.R. 1994, the Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act of 2019. The SECURE Act would make significant reforms to help ensure Americans obtain a financially sound retirement. The bill includes the Increasing Access to a Secure Retirement Act, a key provision led by Reps. Blunt Rochester and Tim Walberg that will make it easier for small businesses to offer annuities as part of an employee’s retirement benefits package. Rep. Blunt Rochester is also co-sponsor of the Secure Act, which passed with broad bipartisan support in a 417-3 vote.

Good to know.

  1. I searched in vain through that press release to find any reference to her role in promoting environmental racism through her opposition to banning a poisonous and noxious chemical:

    https://maplight.org/story/dowdupont-giving-generously-to-congressional-opponents-of-chlorpyrifos-ban/

I also saw no reference from LBR as to how much the corporate poisoners were paying Lisa for her vote:

Perhaps, in fairness, Lisa would prefer to have the ‘brain-damaged’ victims of this poison as part of her voting bloc. More persuadable, you know.

  2. BTW…’ a key provision led by Reps. Blunt Rochester and Tim Walberg that will make it easier for small businesses to offer annuities as part of an employee’s retirement benefits package’ sounds an awful lot like another break for business. Walberg is an R from Michigan.

So, just like with her support of environmental racism, Lisa teams up with an R from Michigan to protect business. All we have to do is to figure out which corporate benefactor wanted this amendment. Hmmm, annuities, perhaps the insurance industry, which is her #1 corporate fundraiser?

  3. jason330 says:

That she is excited about gaining “broad bipartisan support” and somehow STILL views bipartisanship as a great virtue. That tells you where her head is at.

I honestly don’t know how our delegation makes it through the day with their level of stuborn cluelessness. I just don’t.

  4. mediawatch says:

Only two ways legislation can enjoy broad bipartisan support:
    1. Its totally innocuous
    2. The beneficiary special interest lobby already has both sides bought and paid for.
Maybe Lisa can get to work on some of the tough problems that need solutions.

  5. Paul says:

LBR sits on only one committee in the House (4 subcommittees). I think the mean is 2.

  6. mediawatch says:

Got to thinking again about LBR’s commitment to bipartisanship and asked myself two questions:
How many House Republicans will have to announce their support for impeachment before LBR makes a commitment?
How many days (or weeks) after Nancy Pelosi will it take for her to reach that conclusion?

    • RSE says:

Good for LBR, bipartisanship is the way to get the job done. It’s unfortunate that in today’s politics , under no circumstances can one political party allow the other to be perceived as successful.

      • Jason330 says:

If by “the job” you mean tax cuts and corporate regulations rolled back. I agree

      • MFX says:

So you don’t see that as LBR conveniently using “bipartisanship” as an excuse? I’m all in favor of the elimination of partisanship. But that’s a very different thing than pretending to be “bipartisan”.
