Things that only exist in the fantasy world of Democratic Centrists:
For all their talk about being “realistic” and “pragmatic” the Democratic centrists (represented on the stage last night by John Delaney), appear to hold a few fantastical beliefs on par with believing in Santa Claus and trickle-down economics. So here is my list of things that only exist in the fantasy world of Democratic Centrists:
1) Persuadable Trump voters
2) People who absolutely LOVE their company health insurance
I’ll be adding to this list as centrist continue to expose themselves as looney crackpots.
Crack pot is too kind, would suggest the classic Republican Lite or just good old DINO. Find “persuadable” Trump voters several miles past absurd, goes well with the delusional ” all we have to do is talk to them”.
Plenty of MSM outlets are pushing the idea that the centrists did well last night.
MSM is heavily in the bag for corporate oligarchy.
^^^^^This, likey
Remember what the MSM did to Howard Dean. I’m sure something like that is in store for Warren.
“People who absolutely LOVE their company health insurance.”
Well, realistically that’s a number which approaches zero. Even so, contrast that with ‘You are going to raise my taxes to pay for it but it will be better and I’ll ultimately pay less’
I won’t belabor the point, but I would be willing to bet that Ellsberg’s Paradox applies to wit: people always prefer definite information to indefinite and tend to prefer “the devil they know”.
An easily made prediction when you know the entire media establishment is already working overtime to drive up the negatives of the unknown devil.
That may be true, but even if it were not, most people would scoff at the promise of something better for less money. It’s almost axiomatic. The media doesn’t help for sure with the dearth of long reads in favor of easily digestible bites. Regardless, fulfilling the promise depends, in large part, on changes that could be done now, but are not. And if you can’t do them today for whatever reason, how is tomorrow going to be different?
I don’t know about every one else, but for me, if you get a bill passed that allows CMS to negotiate drug prices, I will know you are serious about the promise.
