He Really IS Moscow Mitch.  This Oleg Deripaska guy sure gets around.  Especially for someone who can’t enter the US. McConnell is completely compromised.

Rethugs Purging Ohio’s Voter Rolls.  Remember, kids, this is the only way that R’s can win in many states. The battle has been joined, though…

Hickenlooper Closes Loop On His Campaign. He’s out, may run for US Senate. Me, I’d rather see someone less, um, calcified as the nominee.

West Virginia’s Governor Rivals Trump On Emoluments.  How the richest man in the Mountaineer State uses his office for his own personal benefit. Great investigative reporting.

A Ray Of Hope For Print Journalism? Or At Least Digital Journalism? And, no, I’m not talking the proposed Gannett-GateHouse merger.

Jason ‘We Have More Bullets Than You Do’ Casper Refuses To Resign From Red Clay School Board.  Pity the poor picked-upon white supremacist.

What do you want to talk about?

Here’s your feel-good read of the day, from writer Windsor Mann at The Week:

    https://theweek.com/articles/858707/everyone-eventually-turn-trump-even-steve-doocy-

It’s too soon to say when Donald Trump’s presidency will end, but it’s not too soon to say how it will end. It will end in disgrace. And when it does, Trump’s defenders will turn on him.

Trump’s cult of personality is a cult of power-worshippers. … When Trump is deprived of his place and power, people will stop bowing to him.

    • jason330 says:

Trump knows that as well as anyone, so he must be presently contriving to keep some power beyond the constitutional norms.

Once the recession hits the Great Abandonment will begin. By 2022 every Republican running for office will proclaim they never approved of Trump. By 2024 they’ll be saying “who’s Trump?”

  2. bamboozer says:

Signs of “the great abandonment” are already present, if yesterdays performance of the stock market is a gauge it will begin to grow, as noted it’s a power game. Cult members respect power no matter how evil, it’s what they do. As for Moscow Mitch if we defeat Trump and leave McConnell in the senate the job is only half done, I have no faith in the Dems of Kentucky, but now is very definitely the time to field the best they’ve got and back them to the hilt.

Jason Casper, that poor, picked-upon white supremacist, was elected to the Red Clay school board in May because he ran UNOPPOSED. He was elected to fill the remainder of another board member’s term in May 2018 because he ran UNOPPOSED.
His posts on guns and racial issues date back to 2016.
While some are making his refusal to resign an issue, the greater question is why — not once, but twice — no one in Red Clay cared enough to research Mr. Casper’s positions and why no one in Red Clay’s Nominating District E cared enough to set up a contested election in either 2018 or 2019.
Complain all you want now, but it seems to me that apathetic Red Clay residents got what they deserved.

    • Alby says:

He’s also a white supremacist? I thought it was bad enough that he admits to being a “conservative Catholic,” as if that made him something beyond a made member of a criminal organization.

    • Rufus Y. Kneedog says:

I recall a major dust up a few years back when they opened the new school on Graves road. The fight was over whether to include a section of Wilmington including a housing project in the feeder. I took a quick look but couldn’t find anything – I believe it was covered extensively on this site.
The point being I’m not sure if apathy is the entire problem.

      • mediawatch says:

Not suggesting that apathy is the “entire problem” but it goes a long way toward explaining how this guy wound up on the school board. You’d think that someone in the district — even if it’s only one person– would have checked out this guy’s background before he gets two free passes. And the apathy doesn’t relate solely to this seat. It’s endemic to the school board election process, and it matters little what district we’re talking about. If residents don’t pay attention to filing deadlines and campaigns, they deserve what they get.

    Breaking news:

3 electoral votes, population almost entirely white. Think we can close the deal before the election?
