Dear Green Party, America needs you

Hi Green Party,

I know you hate the Democratic Party as much as you hate the Republican Party. I know you see them as the same thing and I don’t blame you for it. The “Democratic Party,” since Bill Clinton has been horrible. In Delaware you don’t have to look very far to find elected Democratic officials that are utterly indistinguishable from modern Republicans. Tom Carper, Chris Coons, John Carney, Kathleen McGuiness, Peter Schwartzkopf, and the list goes on. These are horrible, despicable people with garbage politics. You should never vote for these terrible people. I’m 100% with you on that, but stay with me.

This is a Democratic Party on its way out. This execrable corporatists leadership doesn’t represent the future of the party. Don’t look at the leadership and think you are looking at the Democratic Party. Look at the people running for county council and state rep. Listen to “Highlands Bunker” and look at people knocking on doors for “Mom’s Demand Action” and you will see people who you have a great deal in common with. Look at Network Delaware and “We Are Sussex” and you will see the a Democratic Party that you can be a part of.

I’m not asking you to give up anything, least of all your values. The Democratic Party needs your values and even if you decide to remain in you own party the new Democratic Party that is struggling to be born needs your vote (in certain cases).

Beginning with this Presidential election. There is simply no threat to America, to the environment, to the future as great as a second term for Donald Trump. There is no issue that Trump is closer to your position than the eventual Democrat. The argument that the Democratic is “just as bad” simple doesn’t hold water this time. Every American of goodwill must reject Trump, and the only feasible way of doing that is to vote for the Democratic challenger no matter who that person is.

I know that it will be a flawed person who you and I may hate voting for, but America needs us to do the right thing and put the possibility of a decent future ahead of our distaste.

The only way Trump can win another term is if the left is fractured and dispirited. That’s why Russia will be working hard for our attention and our votes. They will be bombarding us with information about how terrible the Democrat is, and how terrible the Democratic Party is.

The terribly effective thing about this psychological operations is rooted in truth. The Democratic candidate will be flawed and the Democratic Party of Tom Carper will still be horrible. They will be promoting a third party candidate that checks off a lot of boxes, but we simple can’t allow ourselves to be tricked into not supporting the only viable hedge against a Trump second term.

It sounds like hyperbole, but Green Party – America needs you now. This is an invitation to begin talking about 2020. Let’s put our past differences aside and discuss the leftist politics and policies that can keep us together and create a parliamentary style coalition that can vigorously advocate with more decency and humanity in our politics.
