If you’re looking for news that doesn’t involve the Trump-Ukraine story, give up now. Reporters are asking only two things this morning: Are Democrats finally going to do their jobs, and are Republicans really going to back Trump’s position rejecting all limits on presidential behavior. Because you can get a thousand different answers to those questions, there are a thousand different stories plowing that patch of ocean.
It has not gone unnoticed that the New York Times has been promoting the Trump-centric framing of this story, much as it did with Hillary’s emails.
The ironic part of this is that Trump probably shouldn’t have bothered. The Des Moines Register poll of Iowa voters shows that Biden’s support is eroding as the weeks go by.
Biden is viewed favorably by 66% of likely Democratic caucusgoers, compared to 29% who view him unfavorably. That’s positive territory, but his unfavorable numbers have nearly doubled since March, when he was viewed unfavorably by 15% and favorably by 81%.
The author of a Mike Pence biography confirmed the truth of the rumored push by Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump to dump Pence from the 2020 ticket. “That’s all very real,” according to journalist Tom LoBianco, who has covered Pence for years.
