Well, that was fast. One hearing in and already come the complaints that the Democrats are doing it wrong.

Much gnashing of teeth over the GOP’s Sgt. Schultz routine — they see nossing, nossing that requires impeachment — but many reacted with less than the usual fervor.

Those of us who like to point out that if Hunter Biden didn’t take jobs based on nothing but his last name Joe wouldn’t be in this trouble are, of course, being told that we shouldn’t use this against Biden, mainly because such people learned nothing from the Hillary Clinton debacle. “our guy is less venal” is not a good bumper sticker.

More evidence this time is different: Fox News is not putting up a united front, as Lachlan Murdoch reportedly ponders moving on from Trump.

In non-impeachment news, human rights groups say the White House’s new rule forcing asylum seekers to seek asylum from the countries they’re fleeing amounts to a death sentence for many of them.

Embattled California Rep. Duncan Hunter has a new primary opponent in Swamp Thing Darrel Issa, who sees the opportunity for a political comeback. This is one of the reasons that I support capital punishment, provided we start using it on the proper criminals.

As the mysterious lung illness related to vaping spreads, NBC News commissioned lab tests on bootleg marijuana cartridges. Almost all were tainted with a chemical that breaks down into hydrogen cyanide when heated. This is what happens when people try to improve on Mother Nature.

  1. Alby says:

As an indication of how backward Delaware is (thanks, State Police!), Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced his support for legalizing recreational marijuana use and called for lawmakers to overhaul the state’s pot laws.

Could the same thing happen in Delaware? Sure, but it would require John Carney to undergo a courage transplant.

  2. John Berryhill says:

Check out the big hook-nosed rat that the New Castle County Police are using to protest Matt Meyer.

Gee, where I have seen that imagery before…

      • John Berryhill says:

….and just coincidentally, the same one anti-semites use…

        https://www.google.com/search?q=jew+rat

Because, sure, I’m supposed to trust a law enforcement agency whose members keep around a giant inflatable rat as an effigy. Uh-huh.

        • RE Vanella says:

Come on, dude. My feelings regarding cops are very well documented. But, don’t be a dumb-dumb. It’s embarrassing.

        • Alby says:

I dunno, maybe you’ve been in a coma for the past many years, but every union uses it. They’re all anti-Semites, too?

I’m with RE. The cops have a lot of things to answer for, but this isn’t one of them.

          • John Berryhill says:

            Context matters.

Did you think there was anything racist about people calling George W. Bush “Curious George” and comparing him to a monkey?

Did you think there was anything racist about people comparing either of the Obamas to various primates?

Why were the second set of comparisons offensive, while the first ones were not?

Because they happened within a historical context.

This is not some abstract situation. There is a long history of associating Jews with rats.

Do you think that Delaware is somehow the only jurisdiction in which police have not been found to have participated in various social media groups to promote these sorts of memes, or do you think that nobody in Delaware has bothered to look into it?

            • RE Vanella says:

Thanks for putting this in historical context. You’re a very learned person. I can tell.

            • Alby says:

Here’s the context: Police are in a union. Unions everywhere use the rat.

I hate the police quite a bit more than the next guy, but you’re stretching for something that isn’t there.

I think nobody in Delaware has bothered to look into it. Why don’t you?

If your point is that Matt Meyer is Jewish, thank you for letting us know. I, for one, was completely unaware of that. But then, my Jewdar is dreadful, even worse than my gaydar.

  3. puck says:

    Anybody have an inflatable pig?

    • John Berryhill says:

Well, when they just “happen” to have an inflatable monkey to go after an African American, let me know.

  4. bamboozer says:

I’ve seen the famed rat at more then a few locations including in front of the Dover Mall, I don’t see it as anti Semitic. And if you’ve worked in a union you know that “rat” is a union favorite when applied to management. Having said that Fuck The Police, they seem to think it their right to intrude in state politics and it should not be allowed.

    • John Berryhill says:

Perhaps grown adults can find a better example to set for the community.

I wouldn’t want people who act that way around my children.

On the topic of why fewer posts, my humble opinion…this site does not remember me. I must type in my laborious email every time I want to reply or comment. This was not always true. At one time this page remembered me so each post was just a click. One moment while I type my email below, one hunt and peck on a iPad at a time…

Sorry dude, not the site’s problem. It is more likely related to your security settings. (I have no connection to the site).
