Trump Drives South Korea Into China’s Arms. His demand for $5 billion for troop assistance drove our allies away.  It’s official: American policy now favors North Korea over South Korea. The beneficiary? China.  A big story that is largely being overlooked.

For Those Rethugs Blasting Lt. Col. Vindman For Wearing His Military Uniform To Yesterday’s Hearing:

GOP Gets Their Requested Witnesses, And Uh…They destroy Rethug talking points.  The GOP defending Trump is a criminal conspiracy. Just one more reason not to ‘reach across the aisle’.

Pompeo Was ‘In The Loop’ On Ukraine Extortion Plan.  The Secretary of State joins the AG and so many other Cabinet officials as enablers of the ongoing criminal conspiracy. The new info could prove problematical to Pompeo’s exit plans.  BTW, Kansas could be the ultimate sleeper Senate race, especially since Kansans have gotten sick of the Rethugs who ran the state.

Long Knives Coming Out For Mayor Pete.  His newfound frontrunner status makes him the likely target in tonight’s debate.

Dewey Beach Cop Beat Man Who Was On A Stretcher.  As long as police wield unfettered power in Delaware, this is a dog-bites-man story. Maybe the officer can take a disability retirement and run for office. (OK, kids, what Delaware politico did just that?) While we’re at it, more police hijinx.

What do you want to talk about?

    • The more Coons speaks, the more visible his condescension becomes. Here he is on the Harris candidacy:

“Coons was less impressed, telling the New York Times at the time that “a younger generation of candidates view themselves as not being willing to work their way up through elections and they want to go straight for primarying our most senior elected official.”

Right. Because the Delaware Democratic Party has so traditionally encouraged new candidates who question the Delaware Way (in fairness, that has changed).

      • RE Vanella says:

That was Coons’ comment about Kerri standing against Carper I think. He has the same attitude today. He is above answering to young people because they haven’t served the corporate state long enough. Ok.

Also, the journalist who wrote the American Prospect story noted (Paul Blest) will be a podcast guest in early December.

        • It was about Carper. However, his parroting of an old trope I’ve heard forever is entirely familiar. He might as well have been (old person references) Sam Shipley, Joe Farley, Gene Reed, or Leo Fucking Marshall. Or, to bring it closer to the present, Ed Freel.

  1. ben says:

Sondland looks like he is gonna be a really ugly crier.

  2. BREAKING: MSNBC has obtained Sondland’s opening statement. He totally throws Trump under the bus, and admits that the Ukraine negotiation was, and I quote, a ‘quid pro quo’.

    Holy SHIT!

Guess he doesn’t want to go to jail for perjury.

  3. He implicates both Pompeo and Pence, along with Trump and Giuliani, in his testimony:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/20/us/politics/impeachment-hearings.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage

The D’s have proven their case.

Schiff points out that the committee has not received a single document from the White House or the State Department.

  4. Sondland is leaving no rock unturned. He is this scandal’s John Dean.

If this was Watergate, R senators would be on their way to the White House to tell the President that it’s over.

    • Alby says:

The difference is simple: Yesteryear’s Republicans could read the writing on the wall. Today’s Republicans can only read Breitbart.

      • Jason330 says:

Yeah. Sorry. This changes nothing. Trump thinks he can get this to the Senate and have it dismissed. He may be right.

        • mediawatch says:

Jason, I can see it now. Mitch puts all the Rethug senators on a bus, drives them to the White House, ready to tell Donald to take the next plane to Miami. Trump tells them he did nothing wrong. Mitch cowers, pulls his head back under his shell. Trump tweets about the disloyal Rethug majority … and the beat goes on.

        • Alby says:

This is like looking at the Grand Canyon and failing to appreciate the power of erosion.

    Freedom…

  6. bamboozer says:

As noted modern Republicans have abandoned the concept of ‘doing the right thing” long ago, same for putting country before party. It’s no money, no power, no interest at this point. I have little doubt Moscow Mitch and the rest will all vote not to impeach regardless of the testimony, assorted smoking guns or not, if we get one that would be it. The question remains how will it play in defeat to the general public.

    • RSE says:

Sorry, didn’t see this before I put the other link up.

      • RSE says:

I don’t think this will hurt Biden. It just shows that his son Hunter has weaknesses like many others. It fits right into the “average Joe” image minus the, you know, free money and stuff, but still.

        • meatball says:

lol, and you do realize there is not a single non-DINO that is not laughing and pointing at dopeycons like you….you really don’t get it, do ya’

    • Wouldn’t it be cool if the mother was the love child of Paula Jones and Bill Clinton?

    • meatball says:

lol….as if the trumpkins would be as successful as the the RSEs of the world? Full academic scholarship to Uof D there my science loving dopeycon?

  7. Windowpane says:

If it wasn’t for ole Joe, Hunter would have a problem holding down a job a Wawa.

    • mediawatch says:

No he wouldn’t. Just put the Delaware Way to work. Wawa is the family business for Elise du Pont. If Hunter calls Benjamin Franklin du Pont, I’m pretty sure they can find a store manager position for him somewhere near Greenville.

  8. So when says:

When is Sarah McBride going to condemn Joe Biden? Who wrote the foreword to her memoir? Tonight’s debate was appalling.

  9. RE Vanella says:

The foreword to her memoir! This is discussed often while canvassing. Are you available for field strategy work?

  10. vegas odds says:

Yeah, Kerri really had her stuff together. Amazing she didn’t win.

Did Kerri end up paying her staff at the end of the campaign for all they were owed? My impression was she went into the hole a bit here and there and ended up having to lay off staff and might not have paid them as much as was agreed.

Or does she still owe some of them and some of you money? Also, out of curiosity, anybody know if she gave them health benefits?

I presume Jess is paying all her staff at least $15/hour, give them full health, dental, and vision on top of that and maybe kick in something for a retirement account for hr staff with the promise she wont miss payroll or lay any of them off at least until election day. Anybody know?

    • Alby says:

Wow, somebody’s bitter. A lot of that going around.

      • vegas odds says:

Alby–You are so right. I get so mad when employers don’t pay their employees a fair wage for the work they do, that I just cant sleep at night thinking about how unfairly people at the other end of the power structure are treated by their bosses who promise them things and cant even pay for basic human rights like health care.

Doesnt it bother you when organizations implode and the employees are left holding the bag?! I just don’t think its right. And look at Kerri. She went onto her big new role, and didn’t think about the folks she left in her wake.

Folks, please give to Jess and help Kerri if she still has debts so the staff get treated fairly. They need health insurance, and shit aint cheap.

        • Alby says:

“Doesnt it bother you when organizations implode and the employees are left holding the bag?”

          No.

Anyone who takes a job with a shoestring campaign either knows enough to realize this might happen, or has now learned it the hard way. You should have known going in it was a short-term job. Gambles only pay off when you win.

Health care may be a basic human right, but it is not a basic employer responsibility.

“I just cant sleep at night thinking about how unfairly people at the other end of the power structure are treated by their bosses who promise them things and cant even pay for basic human rights like health care.”

I would recommend some professional therapy for that.

  11. vegas odds says:

Oh thanks. I was feeling a bit nuts. Let me know if you have a recommendation for a shrink. I could use one, and glad you are a medical expert on top of being an terrific political analyst.

What you describe is a pretty shitty situation for the employee. What if they get sick? What if they get pregnant? You don’t think the employer ought to help if its a campaign? That sounds odd.

Do you know if Jess is paying her folks more than $15? Do you know if she is giving her staff benefits? When she says she stands for free reproductive health for all, does that mean she is paying for those services?

Or maybe paying for services is tough, and her hard working staff will see if an media buy is more important to her than their health and wellness.

Also, do you think its odd that Archer employs so few black people?

Check this out: https://www.archer-group.com/about/. It might not be as bad as Sussex County Council (https://sussexcountyde.gov/county-council) who is reallll bad, but one might say #Archersowhite. Right? The injustice of the work environment must be tough for her. Its almost as white as the Senate.

    • Alby says:

“What you describe is a pretty shitty situation for the employee. What if they get sick? What if they get pregnant? You don’t think the employer ought to help if its a campaign? That sounds odd.”

What if they do? It’s a temp job. Temp jobs don’t come with benefits. That’s America.

I don’t know anything about Jess’ campaign. Ask her.

“Also, do you think its odd that Archer employs so few black people?”

This is not an issue I care about in the least. And I strongly suspect you don’t, either.

You sound like a troll who’s trying too hard.

  12. RE Vanella says:

There’s nothing better than some very bad faith anonymous concern trolling.

They’re going to come out of the woodwork like roaches folks. Even more than last time.

    • Jason330 says:

im Surprised Coons is so worried so early. It’s a good sign.

      • RE Vanella says:

I love to see it. The best bit was how Archer Group isn’t very diverse. Meanwhile, neither is the Senate.

Coons had some remarks about this at Notre Dame as I recall.

  13. Alby says:

Interesting, isn’t it, that there’s no discernible difference between Trump trolls and Coons trolls.

This is what I’ve been saying for years — in Delaware, the more dangerous enemy is not the Republicans. It’s the so-called Democrats.

    • RE Vanella says:

You see this now on a national level. Corporate Dems and media (MSNBC types) punch harder left at Bernie than right at say Bloomberg, Biden, Mayo Pete, etc. Say quite a bit about them.

  14. nathan arizona says:

“Mayo Pete” — funny even if it’s a typo. Unless it’s a hospital reference. Then I don’t get it.

  15. nathan arizona says:

    Yup.
