That Trump is a criminal and a terrible President isn’t controversial. His defenders in congress, on TV and at the bar don’t try to refute any of that. It is a given. Braying idiots like Matt Gaetz who defend Trump know how awful he is, they like the awful.
Trump defenders are not trying to fuck with your head. They simply don’t think Trump should be in trouble for being a criminal and a terrible President. They knew he was going to be a criminal and a terrible President when they voted for him. Defending Trump isn’t an exercise in denying reality. It is an embrace of reality.
Terrible President? Look at the economy.
Presidents have little to nothing to do with the economy. Yes, terrible president. Unrepentant criminal, all-around shitbag. In a just world he’d be Gaddafi’d.
Is everything ok at home? These posts seem like calls for help.

It basically proves Jason’s point: They know full well that Trump is a shitty person, and they know deep down that they are shitty people as well. Why else would they feel the need to visit a liberal blog to disagree with us? Do they think that will change anything? Of course not. They just can’t face the facts about themselves, so they project.
They live their lives in constant anxiety and fear. They fear blacks and immigrants, hence the guns. They are especially afraid of women, hence the misogyny. They are aware of their own ignorance and stupidity, hence the anti-intellectualism. They feel keenly their own weakness and powerlessness, hence the authoritarianism.
This is why people like Chris Coons and Joe Biden must be run out of politics on a rail: They enable this, the better to have someone else to blame for their own feckless, corporate-bootlicking policy prescriptions.
Alby, you left out the rigging and protection of the tax structure to benefit corporate and moneyed interests. Also, the super massive tax cuts drained & transferred from blue states to Red which is not talked about because it further divides the country. And they need saps like Coons & Biden to continue the saga. That is all.
