Song of the Day 1/24: The Band, “It Makes No Difference”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on January 24, 2020 0 Comments

I listened to Adam Schiff’s closing speech last night, and thought of this song — not just the title, but the sense of regret and resignation Rick Danko expresses so eloquently. Centrists, moderates, whatever you want to call the people who want our politicians to get along and work together — they need to understand […]

Welcome to Impeachment Hell Day 4 – How to dig yourself out

Welcome to Impeachment Hell Day 4 – How to dig yourself out

If we’ve learned anything from the impeachment so far it is that the United States of America is not its armies. It isn’t its grand marble buildings and flags. It isn’t its soil, or even its constitution.

The United States of America is the premise that the people are in charge, and that the people want what is right and abhor what is wrong. It is a simple idea that has illuminated the globe. Even when we were terrible stewards of that idea, we turned to it just as in the cold of winter we turn our faces to the sun.

Now Mitch McConnell will work to overturn that premise. Mitch McConnell wants you to believe that you are powerless. McConell wants you to accept what is wrong out of your feelings of powerlessness. McConnell and Trump want you to buy the lie that the modern world is complex and “right and wrong” is old-timey bullshit.

They want you to think that the power belongs to the pompous and self-important. McConnell’s defense of the President will boil down to this perverted idea of the United States.

I hope we are not to ground down by cynicism to believe it. I hope we all know the truth. And that the truth becomes imbeded on our hearts and our heads. And above all, I hope the truth spurs us to defeat every Republican at every level of government and banish McConnell’s perversions now and forever.

The Gig Economy Totally Sucks.  Meet the new soulless corporations. Same as the old soulless corporations.  Defended, I might add, by the same soulless corporate lawyers. Yep, The Russians Lent Trump At Least Half A Billion Dollars Through Deutsche Bank.  When the criminal conspiracy that is the Rethuglican Party protects the criminal in the White […]

1. Sarah McBride Is On The Ballot.  With her astounding fundraising, I can’t imagine a serious challenger against her in the Democratic Primary for the 1st Senatorial District.  I can’t say for sure, but she must’ve broken every record for initial fundraising in a Delaware legislative race.  It will be intriguing to see how she […]

presidentpence.com is stupid

presidentpence.com is stupid. It was put up by Bill Kristol who somehow really does think of himself as the last principled conservative. It is dumb but if it gets under Trump’s skin I’m all for it.

Song of the Day 1/23: Bruce Springsteen, “Prove It All Night”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on January 23, 2020 1 Comment

Adam Schiff’s new theme song. If Midnight Mitch insists, Schiff and the House impeachment managers can indeed prove Trump’s abuse of power and obstruction all night. The song appeared on Springsteen’s underappreciated “Darkness on the Edge of Town” LP in 1978. Released as a single, it only made #33 on the Hot 100. This performance […]

General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Thurs., Jan. 23, 2020

OK, kids, say you’re a green-eyeshade governor who suddenly has something like $200 mill in unexpected revenues fall into your lap. Your obsession is to ‘never grow the base of the budget’ under any circumstances, so what do you do? You gift the money to two worthy projects and enable every legislator to join you […]

Schiff & D’s Lay Out Devastating Case.  I don’t need any link. That multimedia presentation was genius. And every time Schiff reached a roadblock because of evidence the White House has withheld, he stopped and said,”I’d like to see that evidence, would you like to see that evidence? You can. Just ask for it.’  Not […]

Welcome to Impeachment Hell Day 3 – How To Dig Yourself Out

Welcome to Impeachment Hell Day 3 – How To Dig Yourself Out

Let’s face it – John Roberts is a fucking loser. He isn’t going to see that this is a fair trial. If anything he is a stand in for the empty-headed media seeking shame “balance” and false equivalencies in place of justice.

The only way to impeach Trump is to impeach every Republican running for every office everywhere.

Have you picked the races you are going to use to impeach Trump yet? Have you committed your time and money to impeaching Trump here in Delaware by removing his support structure?

If you want justice, work to impeach Trump in November by helping elect Eric Morrison.

If you want a national government that isn’t a dumpster fire, work to elect Madinah Wilson-Anton here in Delaware.

If you want to hurt Trump, help Larry Lambert.

Let your door knocking for Marie Pinkney be your vote to impeach Trump.

No savior is going to rise in the Senate. The House Dems have done all they can do. Now it is our job to get to the finish line and remove the stain of Trump from Delaware in every office and every district.

This ‘Whip Count’ Podcast Doesn’t Suck

The podcast I don’t listen to very often is from the House Dem Caucus.  [Full disclosure – I listened once and it was nothing more than the House Dem Caucus breaking their arms off patting themselves on the back for some basic decency like being opposed to slavery.] Anyway… this one is good.  Ruth Ann, […]

Song of the Day 1/22: J.J. Cale, “After Midnight”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on January 22, 2020 0 Comments

Thanks to Moscow Mitch McConnell, anyone who wants to watch the Senate trial of the Marmalade Menace will have to stay up after midnight. I think J.J. Cale summed up this strategy in the lyrics: Gonna cause talk and suspicion We gonna give an exhibition We gonna find out what it is all about Guitarist […]

General Assembly Post-Game Wrap-Up/Pre-Game Show: Weds., Jan. 22, 2020

The General Assembly and the Governor have finally, finally, found a partial funding source for the much-touted Clean Water Initiative.  $50 mill, to be exact. From projected state surplus revenue.  Another $50 mill could come from a Federal match and already-allocated moneys.  BTW, I used the Delaware State News article b/c I’m captivated by the […]

House Impeachment Managers Turned Process Debate Into Substance. Instead of fighting on procedural grounds, they laid out the case of the President’s crimes. They have their shit together.  BTW, McConnell gave Susan Collins permission to vote for one of those subpoenas. As if that’s gonna give her enough cover. She is the Cathy Cloutier of […]
