I’ll say it again: While, under the best of circumstances, nursing home residents would be at great risk, the failure of the state and the federal governments to enforce laws already on the books has made that risk exponentially (that word, again) greater.

I’ve never been a big Pelosi fan, but I admit she’s been more effective in the past year than I had anticipated. I’m not going to agree that she “got rolled again.” There was too damn much stuff in that bill for anyone to understand every last detail. I’m quite certain you’ll find any number of Rethugs who weren’t happy with some of the items the D’s put in. It ain’t perfect, but in a crisis the perfect can’t be the enemy of the good. And you can bet that if Nancy thinks she got rolled, even in the slightest, she will be watching even more closely the next time around.
