Song of the Day 5/6: Guns N’ Roses, “Live and Let Die”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on May 6, 2020

Donald Trump visited a factory that makes medical-grade face masks yesterday. He got lots of scolding for not wearing a mask during his tour, but I thought the more noteworthy aspect was the fact that someone played this James Bond theme song while he strolled around. I couldn’t tell which version was playing on the short clip I saw, but I’m guessing this version, which GNR released in 1991 (and I saw them perform live the next year), is more likely, just because I would think older workers, who’d trend more toward Paul McCartney’s original, probably would be more pro-Trump.

Trump has ordered his border wall to be painted black so that it appears more forbidding and will be too hot to touch: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/trump-border-wall-mexico-paint-black-a9502736.html

For that and other reasons, I nominate the Rolling Stones’s “Paint It Black” as a future song of the day.

  2. BTW, Steven Mnuchin has gotten into a Twitter feud with, wait for it, Axl Rose:
