‘Bulo’s Fave Tunes For August 2020
A great month for new music. One of the greatest months I can recall. I hardly know where to begin. Which is why I always do these lists in alphabetical order, and not that phony internet alpha order based on the first name. Real alphabetical order, the way G-d intended it:
Songs as short stories don’t get much better than what Bill Callahan conjures up:
What? You expect me to choose only one of these two great songs? I don’t think so:
The first of two great bands I’ve had at the Gild Hall that have new music this month. I would kill to bring them back. I love ’em, love this song:
Was always able to resist what Ray Lamontagne was selling. Until now. Betcha Fogerty wished he’d written this one. One (Fogerty) could (and might) argue that he did:
An anthem for our times. Any time, really:
The OTHER great band I’d kill to bring back to the Gild Hall. Pure unadulterated sophisticated fun–now featuring a flute player. Me likey:
No way we’re going out with a whimper this month:
Where else can you get click bait like this without having to pay for it? (I was never much good at monetizing my superior taste in music…)

Hi Steve…Perhaps an even more amazing set of music than usual (and that’s saying something). Anytime you rebook Twisted Pine (love the flute!) and Front Country, give us a heads up. Feel the same way about Ray LaMontagne…great band, but those dry vocals! This one’s a gas. Drumming on the desk to Burna Boy and Fantastic Negrito. Keep ’em coming. (We pass them on to family).
I almost feel like I know you…
thanks Steve! What a killin list — hope we make it back there soon!
