Coons Afraid to Debate Scarane

Filed in National by on August 31, 2020

Coons is trying to sit on a big money lead and run out the clock. That’s just pitiful.

This week, WHYY reached out to Chris Coons again, asking him to debate Jess. And again, Coons refused to comment.

We can guess why — Jess is a values-driven, clear-eyed opponent. You know what she stands for, and so does Coons: Medicare for All, a Green New Deal and a Homes Guarantee. She will fight for a coronavirus relief package that protects our most vulnerable, and benefits all of us.

The pandemic has revealed our country’s deep-seated, systemic problems. Jess is the only one in this race with the courage to face these challenges head-on. Here’s her plan:

Reinstate the $2,000 relief package, ensuring that every person gets a check each month.
Ensure all essential workers get hazard pay.
Cancel all student debt.
Place an immediate moratorium on evictions.

Typically, Jess would get to share this plan during a debate. But because Coons won’t agree to one. He doesn’t want working-class voters like us to know that Jess is on our side. That’s why we need to make sure that every Democrat hears directly from our team. If Coons is too scared to debate, we’ll bring our vision straight to voters.

  2. I thought he was a genius. Smartest guy in every room he graces with his presence.

His refusal to debate is disdain for the voters. BTW, his commercials? Does he take a stand on anything in them? Still can’t figure out what he purports to stand for.

  3. Shane says:

He should be asked to debate in every op-ed section of every newspaper in the state. This is disgraceful, sexist, and elitist. POS

Coons is the kind of Democrat that invites people to vote for another party to get him out
