Trump To Announce Supreme Court Nominee This Week.  The process makes it very difficult to even reach a vote by Election Day. Meaning, the process must be done away with. There’s no point in pointing out hypocrisy and inconsistency.  The rules are whatever Trump and McConnell want. As well as…David Frum offers a glimmer of hopeJane Mayer’s scenario.

Biden’s Plan To Address The Nomination.  BTW, you will note in the article that Biden is taking most of the next week off the trail to prepare for the debatePeople are already voting, and his nose is gonna be in briefing books???? (I rarely use multiple anythings, but Biden’s driving me to it.) Man, this campaign…

Virginia MAGAts Block Early Voters.  Fairfax County in northern Virginia. Used to be an R stronghold. Now, it’s solidly blue, with a huge number of voters.  Why weren’t they all arrested?

Communities Sue Croda For Damages.  We’ll be returning to this issue later, but I have to work so I don’t have time today.  This is one area where the Delaware Way has sucked forever–dumping cancer-inducing plants into communities of color and/or economic distress. By consensus.  Nobody says a word.  Jobs uber alles.  Turns out that Croda was spewing this crap long before it even got a permit to do it. A permit that also defines the Delaware Way. This is where progressive election victories could make a huge difference. Marie Pinkney and Larry Lambert, in particular, ran on the issue of environmental justice.  I support this suit 100%, and I especially want to see the General Assembly attack this issue. For once.  BTW, here’s another lawsuit I support.

Susan Collins Didn’t Say What You Think She Said.  And she won’t do what you think she said she’d do.  Are she and Cathy Cloutier sisters?

How RBG’s Death Could Impact Election Legal Battles This Year.  It never ends, does it?

What do you want to talk about?

Chemical companies don’t poison only the low-income areas. One of the biggest sources of pollution in New Castle County is the incinerator at DuPont’s Experimental Station. I don’t know if they’re still using it this way since the merger/split-up, but for decades it was used to burn toxic materials shipped in from DuPont plants elsewhere, much as Chambers Works handles toxic waste from all over New Jersey.

They don’t actually give a fuck who they poison, they just face less resistance in poor areas.

  2. As I read the Senate Judiciary Committee rules, a 9 member quorum is required WITH 2 members from the Dems attending to conduct any business; this would include votes such as on nominees and also committee rules changes. I’ve written Sen. Coons to mount and lead a Dem boycott to get this blocking done. Anyone have a different read on these rules?

  3. Mitch Crane says:

Stan, you are correct in your interpretation of the Judiciary Committee Rules. A quorum of 9 members, including at least two from the minority is required to transact business (Rule III 1.)

Unfortunately, a majority of the Senate is all that is required to Suspend or Amend those committee rules.

    • Could we not invoke unanimous consent with one Dem, then debate until the cows come home and trash the shit out of them? Might this process not cause further harm to their in danger incumbents who might not want to experience further damage?

      • Besides Collins, the Senator who is screwed either way is Cory Gardner. He’s still got a shot against (ugh) Hickenlooper, but he’s in an untenable position on this. He’s gonna have to take a position soon.

Okay, I’m going to make a prediction here. Stumpy said that his pick for the Supreme Court will be a woman. (Talk about pandering!)

My prediction is that he will nominate Jeanine Pirro to fill the seat on the bench. Heads (including mine) will explode.

Did you forget the story where leftists have graduated their domestic terrorism from burning, looting and assault to now using biological warfare? One of them just apprehended trying to flee the US after an attempted ricin attack. The story will be ignored because you don’t deal in reality, facts or science.

It was one person, dude. You’re shitting yourself over one woman sending a letter to the White House — as if it would get through.

No wonder you people are armed to the teeth — you’re scared of every shadow, especially if it’s black.
