Song of the Day 10/31: Al Kooper and Stephen Stills, “Season of the Witch”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on October 31, 2020 3 Comments

Donovan wrote and recorded this song in 1966, after guitarist John Renbourn of Pentangle showed him how to play a D9 chord at a house party. People who were there say the IrishScottish folkie then spent seven hours playing around with it, and “Season of the Witch” was written soon after. It was considered one […]

Which Delaware Statewide candidate is going to post the biggest win vs their entirely execrable DEGOP opponent? (Part 2)

Which Delaware Statewide candidate is going to post the biggest win vs their entirely execrable DEGOP opponent? (Part 2)

Surprisingly, 538 has Coons beating LBR’s winning margin.

Coons – 64.2%
Biden – 62.1%
LBR – 60.4%

This is probably due to a lack of polling on these non-competitive races.

But if Delaware voters do put such a lopsided beatdown on every DEGOP statewide candidate, I sincerely hope we can dispense with all the Coonsian bowing and scraping to the wingnuts in a misguided attempt to appear “bi-partisan”

Largest One-Day Total Of Coronavirus Cases Ever In US.  It didn’t disappear, the heat didn’t kill it, and it’s worse than ever.  Nobody can wish it away. Nobody can pretend it away. Rethugs Aim To Stop Counting Of Ballots.  The courts just might help them. I’ve said it before, there has been historic voter suppression […]

If you want to like Kyle Evans Gay more than you already do, listen to this

State Senate candidate Kyle Evans Gay joins Rob in the virtual bunker to talk about how her background affects her views of the criminal justice system, the importance of actually accomplishing things in Dover, and why she know longer supports Cathy Cloutier. But first, football. I also enjoyed this one in which a group of […]

Song of the Day 10/30: The Traveling Wilburys, “End of the Line”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on October 30, 2020 5 Comments

This one’s for the Trump administration and the entire Republican Party, which is indeed facing the end of the line. The Traveling Wilburys were rock history’s most peculiar supergroup — five middle-aged singer-songwriters, all but Tom Petty past their commercial peaks, combining their writing and singing talents just for the fun of it. The project […]

El Somnambulo Predicts Some Of ‘Em For You: State House

Let me start with a race that isn’t competitive, because I’ve got a point to make: Rep. District 12: Krista Griffith (D-Incumbent) vs. Jeff Cragg (R).  Every two years, the Brandywine Hundred R’s open a campaign office in Branmar 3, just off Marsh Road.  Over the past few cycles, the number of officials and candidates […]

Bernie Wants Labor. Elizabeth Wants Treasury.  I’m all for it. Except–not only would D’s have to navigate ensuring D replacements for the two, but where would the progressive leadership come from in the Senate?  However, they could both promote progressive policies more effectively in the Cabinet than in the Administration.  The banks, in particular, fear […]

Angry Simpletons of America Unite!

Angry Simpletons of America Unite!

There is no sub-text in this election. If you can still vote for Trump in view of everything we know, you are a real dummy. It is hard for me to imagine there are enough angry, gullible doofuses in America to make this close, but I guess there are plenty of them.

Cuckold Fetishist Jerry Falwell Jr. Sues Liberty University

You couldn’t make this shit up because it wouldn’t be believable. Jerry Falwell Jr., whose predilection for watching his wife fuck the pool boy caused a wee bit of an image problem for the pretend-Christian university his father founded, is suing the school because, he claims — how’s his for bloated cojones — it ruined […]

Song of the Day 10/29: Blind Faith, “Can’t Find My Way Home”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment, National by on October 29, 2020 0 Comments

This one’s for all the poor saps at Trump’s Omaha rally the other night who got stranded miles from shelter in freezing temperatures when their buses didn’t show up. Apparently, whoever’s writing this Reality Show From Hell is overly fond of ham-handed metaphors. That’s the version that’s spawned a hundred covers, but it’s not the […]

El Somnambulo Predicts Some Of ‘Em For You: The State Senate

Let’s face it. A monkey typing Hamlet could get most of these races correct. (I told you I’m adding bad analogies to my repertoire.)  I ain’t gonna play that game.  We all know that there are only a handful of competitive races, and they’re the only ones I’m gonna pick. First of all, some ramblings. […]

Song of the Day 10/28: The Moody Blues, “Go Now”

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on October 28, 2020 2 Comments

As the days until the election dwindle, I find this tune going through my head — the “since you gotta go, you better go now” part, not the “I don’t want to see you go” part. This was the first big hit for the Moody Blues in their first incarnation, with Denny Laine fronting the […]
