Let’s be honest. The New Year really doesn’t begin until January 20.  Until then, we just have to sweat out whatever remaining blue ruin Trump can inflict.

Why Nursing Homes Failed During Pandemic.  They sought, and then took advantage of, lax enforcement.  BTW, here’s another major scam routinely used  by the chains.  Memo to current and future Delaware governors: Have a watchdog in charge of regulating these facilities, not a lapdog and/or a fox in the henhouse.

It Was A Great Year For Billionaires. I know, I know, Dog Bites Man.

How A Trump Appointee Is ‘Locking In Contracts’ Of Fellow Sycophants.  See ‘remaining blue ruin Trump can inflict’ above.

Pence vs. Gohmert. ‘Your beef’s with Congress, not me’.  Sasse calls out fellow Rethugs.  Gotta say, he’s one of the very few R’s with any integrity.

Industrial Logging Is Destroying Oregon Towns.  The timber lobby spread their largess to the key government officials. It paid off. For them and only them.

Single-Use Plastic Bag Ban Takes Effect In Delaware.  Good. Shawn Garvin spells it out:

“Each Delawarean uses about 434 plastic bags (per year) and that means nearly 2,400 tons of plastic bags end up in our landfills annually,” said DNREC Secretary Shawn Garvin. “A decrease by the public of plastic carryout bags can mitigate a large portion of this waste and help our environment by reducing the amount plastic bags on our roads and waterways that can harm us and our wildlife.”

The Republican Senator David Perdue has been forced to go into quarantine after coming into contact with a person who has COVID-19, his campaign said.

Perdue will have to step back from the closely fought race against Democrat Jon Ossoff, only days from the election on January 5.

    • I probably shouldn’t say this, but Trump has done his level best to sabotage R chances in these races.

If the D’s don’t win these, well…I’d best leave my thought unfinished.

  2. bamboozer says:

These last and desperate attempts to overturn the election will have a lasting impact, in that, like all things Republicans, they will be back time and again every time they lose. Charges of sedition should be brought against more then a few in the house, rest assured said charges will not be filed. We have seen the multiple failures of the constitution and body politic lain bare, and this is just the beginning. The cold civil war doth proceed.

  3. jason330 says:

It is really fucking unbelievable to me that so many republicans are going to the wall for Trump.

I mean a civil war over slavery..I get it. The south’s economy and culture were built on it. But TRUMP? What fucking principle are they defending? owning the Libs? It makes no fucking sense.

    • Alby says:

Remember, every accusation they make is a confession.

They screech about cancel culture. Their movement attempts to cancel minorities, gays, immigrants, women and lib’ruls, because since the ’60s these groups have demanded, and occasionally moved toward, recognition as equal citizens.

Republicans — all of them, not just the Trumpers — truly believe they are victims of such people. If they dislike the idea of gay people and want to see them as evil deviants, who are we to demand they treat them with equal respect? Their “religion” demands otherwise and they, incorrectly, believe that the Constitution decrees their right to discriminate outweighs gays’ right to equal treatment under the law. They believe, to the core of their being, in their right to bigotry, though they would deny that’s what it is.

The Civil War was fought over slavery because slavery was the foundation of their fantasy world. This war on lib’ruls is over our demand that all be treated equally.

These people don’t believe we are all equal. They believe they are superior and therefore deserve to be in control. They are fighting for exactly the same thing the Confederacy fought for — a way of life that puts white men in positions of authority.

Voting to overturn the EC count is a free vote for Republicans. In fact if they vote to uphold Biden’s win they will likely be primaried.

    • puck says:

… but first the bedwetting surrender monkeys voted 80-12 for cloture on the override, brushing off Sen. Sanders’s demand for a vote on the $2000 checks.
