Song of the Day 3/3: Mark Chestnutt, “Blame It on Texas”
Texas’ sociopathic leadership has lifted all Covid restrictions, which makes me think they can’t secede soon enough — if it were a foreign country we could impose a travel ban.
Country music loves to sing the praises of the Lone Star State, but only Mark Chestnutt told the truth about Texans — they’re insane, eager to shift blame and unapologetic about it. It was the third single from his 1991 debut album, “Too Cold at Home,” which is why he’s singing it at 1992’s Farm Aid benefit. For a reality check on how long ago that was, check out who introduces him.

Western swing may be the only good thing Texas ever produced.
Well, there was LBJ, aw nevermind. Molly Ivins is cool and so is Jim Hightower. With a lot of work and money, Texas will be the next Georgia!
Texas was an independent country (without Googling) from 1836 to 1846. The Texas Embassy is still standing in London. I’m not sure what’s there now but in the 1990’s it was a popular Tex-Mex eatery and night club. The Lone Star flag flies from the building. When the TX Governor threatens to secede I ask how soon?
I thought that place was just a theme restaurant. Turns out it was a theme restaurant and historical oddity. .
