Cuomo Aides Rewrote Report On Nursing Home Covid Deaths To Hide The Scope Of The Tragedy.  You know, so he could go on TV and pretend to be the Anti-Trump, the Competent One:

Top aides to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo were alarmed: A report written by state health officials had just landed, and it included a count of how many nursing home residents in New York had died in the pandemic.

The number — more than 9,000 by that point in June — was not public, and the governor’s most senior aides wanted to keep it that way. They rewrote the report to take it out, according to interviews and documents reviewed by The New York Times.

The extraordinary intervention, which came just as Mr. Cuomo was starting to write a book on his pandemic achievements, was the earliest act yet known in what critics have called a monthslong effort by the governor and his aides to obscure the full scope of nursing home deaths.

Sounds like ‘alternative facts’ to me.

Speaking Of Male Toxicity–North Dakota Legislator Expelled:

The litany of complaints that female colleagues had filed against North Dakota state Rep. Luke Simons (R) filled out a 14-page report released last week: Constant unwanted advances. Requests to run his hand through an intern’s hair. Harassing a pregnant Republican House member so often that she covertly changed desks.

In response, the state’s House of Representatives took the unprecedented step on Thursday of expelling Simons — the first time in its history the procedure has ever been used, the Bismark Tribune reported.

The chamber voted 69-25 to boot Simons, meeting the two-thirds majority needed. Rep. Emily O’Brien, Simons’s Republican colleague who moved desks after what she described as a pattern of “disturbing” harassment, urged the chamber to listen to the women who spoke out.

He claims he’s a martyr–just like poor picked-upon Justice Kavanaugh.

Stoopid Rethug Governor Trix: DeSantis Immunizes Wealthy Pals With Vaccine Intended For The Poor.  Hey, if you can’t take away their voting rights, you might as well kill them.  Abbott Blames Immigrants For Covid Spike.  Turns out any spike has nothing, nothing, to do with his ‘Texas Must Open’ order.  It’s caused by hordes of immigrants that Biden is unleashing in south Texas.  How many brain cells have I lost just by reading these articles?

‘It’s Not Fair!’.  Another ‘victim’ of the Capitol Riots.  I can sympathize. I mean, you would think that he was some black guy caught with a joint rather than merely a violent insurrectionist with a lethal taser strapped to his hip.  Here’s yet another ‘victim’.  Why oh why hasn’t Trump come to his rescue?

The Pandemic’s Existential Threat To Black-Owned Businesses.  It’s tougher for them to meet Federal criteria for assistance.  That should change.

Elaine Chao–Criminal. IG’s report was tossed in the trash by Bill Barr.  Which reminds me–is McConnell plotting an early exit?  Bill would prohibit Kentucky’s Democratic governor from naming a temporary successor should a seat become open.

The Evangelical Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste:

Evangelicalism in America, however, has come to be defined by its anti-intellectualism. The style of the most popular and influential pastors tend to correlate with shallowness: charisma trumps expertise; scientific authority is often viewed with suspicion. So it is of little surprise that American evangelicals have become vulnerable to demagoguery and misinformation. In a classic study, “Anti-Intellectualism in American Life,” the historian Richard Hofstadter, writing in the nineteen-sixties, during the aftermath of the excesses of McCarthyism, examined certain attitudes and ideas in the United States that had converged to produce a “resentment and suspicion of the life of the mind and of those who are considered to represent it.” He saw American evangelicalism as a chief culprit. In 1994, Mark Noll, a historian who was then a professor at Wheaton College in Illinois, the preëminent evangelical liberal-arts institution, published “The Scandal of the Evangelical Mind.” In the opening sentence of the book’s first chapter, he writes, “The scandal of the evangelical mind is there is not much of an evangelical mind.”

Who Were The Falsehood Super-Spreaders?  Yep, Trump and his minions, plus a few others.

Croda’s Polluting Again, With DNREC’s Blessing.  You know, the ‘greater good’, which never seems to consider the health of minority communities.  I’m sure it’s within ‘acceptable’ limits, except for those who live there.

What do you want to talk about?

Man oh man. I simply do not understand what goes on in Cuomo’s head.

    1) How the fuck do you think you can go around being a retro-grade-Mad-men-style masher in 2020, and

    2) Why are covering up the # of deaths in a pandemic? It’s a fucking pandemic… people fucking EXPECT death.

If power corrupts, in this case it corrupted his capacity for common sense.

Ah yes, the Evangelical Cult of ignorance and suspicion of the highly educated. Being a cult made them easy pickin’s for Trump and for that matter the Republicans as a whole. Their goal remains to make the rest of us bow down to their stunted version of Christianity. As an Atheist I find them typical of all religion, the Catholics come to mind as well with the eternal perversion of their clergy. Someday men will learn to live without religion, sadly I will not live to see it.

It’s funny how the right thinks they are owning libs with the Cuomo scandals. Note to the right: Liberals primaried Cuomo, and will do so again if he is stupid enough to run. Cuomo is no Al Franken.

“New legislation would allow Delaware police to ticket motorists who don’t clean snow off vehicles”

With legal weed coming, the search for new discretionary traffic stops begins!

IIRC, this was once a piece of legislation promoted by Monsignor Lavelle.

If you’ve ever had a roofload of snow from the SUV in front of you on I-95 hit your windshield at 65 mph, you might see the need for it. What I wonder is how many cops would actually be available to enforce it during/after a snowstorm, what with responding to the usual spate of accidents.

I’d hope that having a well-publicized law on the books would at least motivate drivers to clean off their vehicles before starting out.

    • Another Mike says:

Fuck those people, they deserve to be out $100 or whatever the fine would be. I know people who have had windshields cracked by flying ice because some lazy shit doesn’t want to take 2 minutes to brush snow off his or her car.
