Senator Chris Coons called out for his “despicable and unacceptable” vote. Meanwhile, Tio Bernie says, “if any senator believes this is the last time they will cast a vote on whether or not to give a raise to 32 million Americans, they are sorely mistaken.”   So Coons will have another shot to vote like the big follower of Jesus Christ he claims to be.   Via Common Dreams: Shameful-Millionaire Senators Vote Against Popular Minimum Wage

Derek Chauvin, Murder of George Floyd, goes on trial this week  At trial, prosecutors will argue Chauvin had his knee on Floyd’s neck for roughly nine minutes—including nearly three minutes in which Floyd was unresponsive.

“Please, please, please, I can’t breathe. Please, man,” Floyd said in the viral body-camera footage, “I’m about to die.”

Chauvin’s defense team will argue that Floyd was asking for it (by being African American).

Oy, this Axios interview with Lindsey Graham is the most tortured defense of the Last Guy ever.  Speaking of tortured  – come out of the closet, Lindsey.

Why won’t Delaware legalize marijuana? This bust shows why:

A trooper patrolling I-95 northbound near Edgemoor Road Friday afternoon pulled over a car for an expired registration, and when the cop started to question the driver, Makia Rodgers, there was an odor of pot coming from the car, Delaware State Police said.

A search of the car turned up 2 blunts, along with several marijuana “edibles” and about 40 dollars in suspected drug money.

How would they get a public menace like Makia Rogers off the road and into prison If weed were legal? If weed is legalized, the smell of pot wouldn’t be reason enough to search the car, because it would be no worse than driving around with an open container of alcohol, and you can’t arrest somebody for…oh, wait.

Are you fucking kidding me? Are you FUCKING kidding me?

This needs to be the bust that forces the cop caucus out of the joint and rolls us to green pastures of legalization!

Can someone expand on the story and state law? A quick search says “In 2015, Delaware House Bill 39 (HB 39) decriminalized cannabis possession statewide, making the possession of less than 6.2 ounces (175 grams) of marijuana a misdemeanor and less than 1 ounce (28 grams) of marijuana a civil infraction.” What is the basis for running her in? Driving under the influence or the ‘drug money’? If the latter, not sure a judge would go along with that assessment. Seems like she was well below the threshold unless edibles are handled differently.

      I’d like clarification for …uh…reasons.

2011 or 2013 DE spent $13 million prosecuting and jailing non violent weed smokers. You know what they could do with $13 million? The Gov won’t leagalize weed because he has no balls and his heart is as big as a mustard seed. He’s allowing the surrounding states to take DE’s weed market. If he has a brain it is brand new because he hasn’t used it YET.

  4. This is ALSO why The General Assembly must put an end to civil forfeiture. That $40 the cops have stolen goes directly into a slush fund exclusively for the use of the police.

  6. bamboozer says:

Total agreement with all comments, and a reminder that decriminalization has not stopped the police from harassing smokers. As for civil forfeiture it is legalized theft and a disgrace that it still is allowed to exist. As ever policing remains an exercise in authoritarianism , and it will not end until retired state police are removed from the government.
