Point:

Bernie Sanders’s primary campaigns have moved the Democratic Party to the left. For evidence of that, just look at how the American Rescue Plan utterly ignored the Beltway’s fetish for bipartisanship and delivered big, clear gains to the American people, like cutting the child poverty rate in half.   www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com

Counter Point:

As a pro-family Republican Senator, I’m vehemently opposed to the Democrats’ plan to reform the Child Tax Credit and give families money every month to care for their children. Sure, on the surface it sounds good when they say things like, “This plan would cut the child poverty rate in half” and “Children deserve to eat.” But ask yourself, what is really going on here? To me, this just sounds like another deranged liberal plot to cut child poverty and let children eat. www.mcsweeneys.net  If Kids -Want to. Eat-They Should Work in Filthy Factories Like. Resign, Frank Stevens.

Another month, another experience with abhorrent and disappointing behavior from my RD committee.
This time, Dustyn Thompson asked the two candidates running for Chair what they planned to do to bring in new members and be more involved in the community. Our Chair, Frank Stevens, found it appropriate to launch into an unhinged tirade about “progressives” which included berating us with profanities and stating that we were tearing the party apart by supporting insurgent progressive candidates in other districts. He never answered the question.
This behavior is abusive and should not be tolerated by the Democratic Party. We cannot build our party when those who hold leadership positions do not act as leaders, but as petulant, entitled children that lash out at fellow committee members who dare to question them. We also cannot build our party when the diversity of the district is not represented in leadership or the committee by design.
This is why progressives will continue to challenge the power structure of the Party. We deserve a hell of a lot better.

Rep. District Committee will soon elect their District’s State Convention Convention Delegates.  Hopefully Dustyn Thompson and Jordyn Mattei Pusey make it.

The NCAA has allowed transgender athletes to complete for the past 10 years.  But the right wing needs to concoct a bullshit controversy to keep the zombies in line, so…

Governor Kristi Noem, Governor of South Dakota, announced that she would sign a bill limiting female teams and sports at public schools to students who are biologically female. The bill passed the South Dakota Senate 20-15 yesterday on International Womens Day.

Another thing about the ARP. Republicans are ready to argue that this is Biden breaking his promise to be “bi-partisan”.

Fuck that. There is no need to negotiate with with anyone who is not willing to negotiate in good faith.

“We cannot build our party when those who hold leadership positions do not act as leaders, but as petulant, entitled children.”

As we can see all too well, that’s exactly how they built the Delaware Democratic Party. They’ve acted like petulant, entitled children for all my 48 years in Delaware.

It’s not about building something; it’s about making it work once you’ve got it assembled. The Democratic Party is, nominally, in control of state government. It’s been built. It simply doesn’t work as it should. I chalk it up to operator error by operators like Frank Stevens.

  2. From Sarah Gamard’s ‘typewriting’ on the minimum wage bill:

“Powerful business groups will again fight the measure, and they have proven effective: They recently succeeded in lobbying against a $15 an hour wage in Congress.

And that’s in part due to the stance in Delaware.

Sens. Tom Carper and Chris Coons, both Delaware Democrats, rejected a proposal Friday to raise the national minimum wage to $15 an hour, showing how divisive the issue is in the state…

…Both support a $15 minimum wage but voted “no” because they did not want to imminently burden businesses that suffered losses during the pandemic, according to statements from the senators and their staff.”

FACT: If you vote against a $15 minimum wage, you don’t support a $15 minimum wage. Period. Here’s the reality: Carper and Coons will ALWAYS vote against a $15 minimum wage as long as the Chamber of Commerce gives them sufficient talking points. It’s the same rope-a-dope that the likes of Andria Bennett, Bryon Short, and Quin Johnson always employed here in Delaware.

Now, let’s get to Delaware. The votes are there to pass a $15 minimum wage in both Houses of the General Assembly. However, Speaker Pete has once again placed two potential ‘no’ votes on the Business Lapdog Committee to deep-six this bill. He’s done this twice before (Bryon Short and Quin Johnson having been previous traitors.) Now is the time to put EXTREME pressure on Andria Bennett and Bill Bush, the two Chamber lackeys on that committee, AND to put pressure on Speaker Pete to place the bill in the Labor Committee, where it belongs.

I saw that Pusey thread to.

It looks like Mike Matthews is in that RD too. He left a crazy coment about being muted by the chair. What is going on in that rd?

He post this under Jordyn’s post.

I will admit to losing my cool (which I later apologized for in the chat), but only because the then-acting and now-current chair COMPLETELY and OFFENSIVELY mischaracterized our position and actions relative to the former chair of the RD and I refused to allow that to stand without comment.

The chair also muted me halfway into my comments and then laughed about it when called out.

I look forward to working with the chair and the rest of the RD and will limit my comments here in the hopes of achieving some semblance of unity on this RD going forward.

I appreciate your voice and your commitment to action, Jordyn.
